Once she stepped into the royal spotlight, it didn’t take long for Meghan Markle to become a style icon. The Duchess of Sussex always looks good, no matter what she’s wearing. Whatever she steps out in instantly becomes something I personally want to purchase immediately, and I’m sure I’m not alone. Most recently, Meghan has been on a goth style kick, and I’m very into it.

The fact that Meghan has been wearing all-black ensembles recently isn’t exactly surprising. While she sometimes surprises us with a pop of color, the Duchess is often seen in muted shades and neutrals. According to one fashion commentator, this is thought to be taken as a “sign of respect” towards the Queen, who often wears bright, bold colors. Whatever the reason, she always makes it work, and she has looked especially stunning in her black ensembles at recent events.

Earlier this week, Meghan attended the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force, where she made an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony with other members of the royal family, including the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and of course Prince Harry. Meghan looked elegant in a custom-fitted black Dior dress with a neckline similar to her famous Givenchy wedding dress. She accessorized with a black fascinator by Stephen Jones, as well as a simple black clutch and light heels, also by Dior. The black fascinator with the black dress was very gothic-chic, honestly, and it definitely worked.

Meghan and Prince Harry did their first royal tour of Dublin, Ireland, where Meghan was spotted at the British embassy’s summer party wearing another black ensemble. This one was a black Emilia Wickstead dress, worn with Birks Citrine Diamond Drop Earrings, Aquazzura’s Deneuve Bow Ponity-Toe Pumps, and a satin Givenchy clutch. A little more summery than her outfit at Buckingham Palace, it was still a classic look.

Lastly, Meghan and Harry met with Northern Ireland politicians at Croke Park in Dublin, where she wore what was, frankly, an iconic black Givenchy suit set, a white Lavender Hill boat t-shirt, a Givenchy belt, a Givenchy bag, and Sarah Flint heels. Excuse me while I blow my savings on the same exact outfit.

The rest of Meghan’s outfits from her Ireland tour were pretty devoid of color as well. She sported a grey shift dress one day, and a dark green (almost black) dress another.

Not that Meghan doesn’t look great in color (she looks great in everything), but all I’m saying is that I would not be disappointed if she became a royal gothic queen.
