I feel awful complaining about sunshine, but we are only halfway into the summer season and temperatures have been scorching. Throughout the day, I’m constantly running my A/C — and even if I turn it off for just a second, I feel like I’m going to melt. A majority of the heat entering my home is from my patio door, which is basically a very large sliding window. I have blinds and drapes, but nothing has been able to compete with this California sun I’m dealing with every day. The heat in my home only worsens throughout the day, especially when I turn the stove on. I’m running out of popsicles and patience. I need a cooling hack for my home!
My A/C usage has been insane. As a result, I desperately searched the internet for an alternative way to cool my house. I sorted through tons of expensive fans, and then I stumbled upon window tint stickers. Bingo! I found rolls for under $15 on Amazon and purchased enough to cover my sliding patio windows.

No need to hire help, but you may need a friend to lend a hand with this DIY project. Definitely grab a measuring tape and scissors, and carefully read the instructions before you begin peeling the tint. I noticed a drop in the temperature inside my apartment the very next day. My A/C cooled the apartment quickly and I was able to turn it off earlier in the evening.
Now that I’m not running my A/C all day, I’m sure my electric bill won’t make me want to cry. This tint has made the summer more enjoyable for me. Less money on bills and more money on summer shenanigans!
