Focaccia Cast Iron Pizza

Traditional focaccia dough made from flour, water, yeast, sugar, salt water, and olive oil holes - top view, cooking process on a baking sheet on a marble table

  • 1 Pack of HORMEL® Pepperoni Cup N’ Crisp
  • Mike’s Hot Honey®
  • 1 ¼ oz envelope of active dry yeast
  • 2 tsp Honey
  • 5 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp Morton kosher salt
  • 6 Tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 bag of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 jar of pizza sauce

  1.  Let’s start by making a no-knead focaccia dough, first whisk one ¼-oz envelope of active dry yeast, 2 tsp of honey and 2 ½ cups of lukewarm water in a medium bowl and let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add 5 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 Tbsp of morton kosher salt and mix with a rubber spatula until a shaggy dough forms and no dry streaks remain.
  3. Pour 4 Tbsp of extra-virgin olive oil into a big bowl, transfer dough into the bowl and turn to coat in oil. Cover with plastic wrap and chill until dough is doubled in size for at least 8 hours and up to 1 day.
  4. Take your cast iron and coat it with some extra-virgin olive oil and then take your focaccia dough and transfer it to the cast iron. Lightly oil your hands and start to dimple the dough all over with your fingers creating very deep depressions in the dough.
  5. Doing things a little different, take the mozzarella cheese and make a nice thick layer over the focaccia dough. Now pour 1 pizza sauce jar over and make sure it is evenly spread.
  6. Take your HORMEL® Pepperoni Cup N’ Crisp and completely cover the top of the sauce.
  7. Place the cast iron in the middle rack and bake at 450℉ for 30 minutes.
  8. Time to enjoy but do not forget to drizzle some of your Mike’s Hot Honey® before serving.
