Homes the Average American Can Afford Across the Country

If you love watching house hunting shows, then stick around, because I’m going to share with you what type of home the average American can afford across the country. Using Zillow’s Affordability Calculator, I entered the average annual income, monthly debts, and a down payment (typically 20% of your income) and Zillow produces a “comfortable fit” that you can afford. I plugged in our median household income numbers and Zillow told me we could afford $195,342. Then, I went to U.S. News to find the 100 Best Places to Live in the USA and chose the top ten. Let’s get to it, from Seattle to Boston, we’ll see what we can afford in 2017.
