Queen Cardi is calling on her subjects for post-pregnancy help. After giving birth to daughter Kulture Kiari in July, Cardi B is now searching for a method to get rid of the dark line on her stomach that popped up during pregnancy. Luckily, we think we — and a ton of her fellow mama followers — can help her out.
“Ladies how do you guys get rid of the black line in the middle of your stomach after giving birth?? cause b*tch,” Cardi captioned an October 20th Instagram post.
The line Cardi B is referring to is called a Linea Nigra, which is sometimes referred to as “the pregnancy line.” According to the American Pregnancy Association, in some cases, women already have a Linea Nigra on their stomachs before becoming pregnant, but it’s too light in color to notice. If and when the line darkens during pregnancy, it usually spans from the navel to the pubic bone and can be anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide.
Doctors aren’t sure why some women develop a Linea Nigra, but it’s believed to be related to hormonal changes during pregnancy. There’s no way to prevent a Linea Nigra from appearing, but luckily, it goes away on its own after birth.

“Vitamin E oil helps,” Instagram user @katielepine commented on Cardi B’s post. “Mine—it’s called a linea [nigra]—faded slowly on its own and slower after my second baby.” Another follower suggested using Vicks (as in Vicks Vapor Rub) to fade the mark.
Others told Cardi to try coconut oil, bio-oil, and classic shea butter. Regardless of what she uses to speed up the fading process, Cardi can bank on her Linea Nigra disappearing eventually.

Keep up the good work, Cardi. Soon enough, the Linea Nigra will fade and you’ll forget that you even had it in the first place.
