Weddings come with a ton of fun traditions. The bride can wear a huge white dress, dance the night away with loved ones, and get super involved with the wedding day prep. In the weeks leading up to the ceremony, however, there are a lot of bridal obligations. The bachelorette party stands out as one of the fun commitments, though. In theory, the event offers a night of carefree fun; it’s the bride’s last night as a single person.
In reality, though, bachelorette party fails are all too common.
Plus, attendees tend to get messy. The party usually morphs from one day into an entire weekend, and occasionally, the events can get really intense. Some weddings even get canceled because the bachelorette party is just too wild.
There are real stories about these wedding fails, and you need to hear about every single one, so you don’t make the same mistakes before your own big day.
1. They got too involved with the strippers.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/mwhLXQEKupENG/giphy.gif”]
It’s horrible when a bride gets carried away at her own bachelorette party.
Redditor slightlydainbramaged has a story about just that. They shared:
One of my best friend’s wedding was cancelled when he learned she slept with a stripper after her bachelorette party. Like three days after. The good news? He is happily remarried now with a kid.
At least there’s some kind of happy ending!
2. Half of the wedding party got food poisoning.

Not all weddings are ruined by drunken shenanigans.
A Reddit user who has since deleted their account wrote:
Bachelorette party is three days before the destination wedding. My sister (the bride) is taken by her friends for a dinner. I’m at the bachelor party. We start getting weird messages. Garbled texts and then we get a call from a local hospital. Food poisoning. The Groom goes, “Yeah, this isn’t happening boys,” and we figure one more shot and we’ll make our way to the hospital.
Never underestimate the determination of a bride and bridesmaids. The wedding was delayed a day and she walked down the isle with enough gravol shoved up her bum and shot into her veins that I’m not sure she knew where she was, let alone that it was a wedding. The bridesmaids were all various shades of grey, green and ill.
3. The wedding parties got a little bit too close for comfort.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/3o7TKB15qTJv5E397y/giphy.gif”]
Here’s a new one.
Apparently, some weddings get canceled because of bachelorette party orgies. Reddit user darklordofbunnies wrote:
The bachelor party and the bachelorette party were being held in the same hotel in New Orleans. They begin at 8pm and collide drunkenly at about 3am. It was some kind of drunken orgy and everyone was so ashamed the next morning they called it off.”
This story does have good news, though. Apparently, the couple “made up six months later and got married.”
4. They literally missed their own wedding.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/AAsj7jdrHjtp6/giphy.gif”]
There’s a reason you shouldn’t have your bachelorette party the night before the wedding.
Reddit user khendron wrote:
The night before their city hall wedding, the bride and groom had separate big parties and got so wasted they both slept through the wedding. They didn’t realize it until city hall called asking where they were, and they decided [to] do it later. They did eventually get married, and still are as far as I know, over 20 years later.
5. Snapchat partially destroyed their happy day.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/AjYsTtVxEEBPO/giphy.gif”]
Don’t cheat and Snap!
Redditor dlang17:
Neighbor’s
friendsjealous harpy frenemies convinced her to cheat on the husband-to-be at the bachelorette party. Her friends were very drunk and Snapchatted evidence to him as “a joke.” Obviously, he didn’t take it that well and left her. Packed up all his things in their apartment and drove to his parents instead of getting married. Bride apparently didn’t leave her room for about three weeks, totally distraught with how her relationship fell apart.
6. A drug addiction totally threw off the groom.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/3og0IBB44ZIEkrDgME/giphy.gif”]
In some cases, it seems like the bride and the groom may not have known each other as well as they thought they did.
For example, Redditor Tee_Red noted:
The day of the wedding, the bridesmaids discovered a bunch of heroin and syringes in the bride’s bag. Groom was pissed, called off the wedding an hour before it was set to happen, but still let us enjoy the food and bar that had already been paid for at the venue.
Yikes!
7. The bride and groom got into a huge fight.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/l0IynOeem5dAp4pkk/giphy.gif”]
Sometimes something specific doesn’t even really have to happen at the bachelorette party to ruin things.
This story is one example of that. Redditor TA704 wrote:
My ex was the best man in a wedding for his best friend. The night of the bachelor/bachelorette party the men and women each had their own get together, and then were supposed to meet up with each other later that night at a bar downtown. I was with the ladies and after our party, we got into the party bus and headed down. Bride called groom and told him to leave to meet us there.
We waited and waited. Groom is a no-show. Bride demands that I call my then-boyfriend and find out where they were. Boyfriend reports that they made a pit-stop at a strip club (bride and groom had an agreement that he would not). Bride obviously flips out and grabs my phone demands that my ex order everyone to leave the club. Ex tries to explain that it is not going to be easy to get 40 highly intoxicated men out of the club when they had already started. Meanwhile, groom is still ignoring bride’s calls. Bride demands that we all leave. Bride and groom’s sister get into a physical altercation and have to be pulled apart. Bride is screaming that she is cancelling the wedding.
8. She ran off with her ex.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/aWPGuTlDqq2yc/giphy.gif”]
How could a cheating story get any worse?
The bride could reconnect with a past lover. Redditor bloodguard knows all about that. They wrote:
It was one of my sister’s friends so it’s not first hand but: Her ex-husband crashed the bachelorette party and romanced her [so much] that she bailed on the wedding and ran off with him.
That one is really rough!
9. The wedding party got arrested.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/GCDeXY3mRUxwI/giphy.gif”]
Yes, it’s possible for bachelorette party fails to include altercations with the law.
Reddit user grubas noted:
The entire bridal party got arrested for public urination, public intoxication, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. Us groomsmen were passed out and nobody answered the phones or was able to pay bail. They later split up because she was so mad that he apparently drunkenly picked up the phone, threw it across [t]he room and landed it in the filled tub where another friend was passed out.
10. The bride cheated with a random person.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/3o7WIGx1wesMLfrQgo/giphy.gif”]
These bachelorette party cheating horror stories apparently happen all the time in real life.

A few years ago now, I went out with a group of guy friends. We went from a few bars and ended up at one with a bachelorette party. After talking to them, I was the only married one in the group and one of the bridesmaids was the only married one. We spent a good portion of the night talking while the rest of the group got plastered. They loaded into a van and we followed them to their hotel to continue partying. We were playing cards when the bride and one my my friends wanted to go get more booze. They left and were gone for about 30 minutes before we noticed.
Went looking for them and they were f*cking in the back of his car. They finished up and saw three of us standing there. We left and the bride went back to the room. I’m still casual friends with the bridesmaid and the wedding didn’t happen.
11. Things almost got way too violent.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/spfi6nabVuq5y/giphy.gif”]
Some of these stories are more scary than funny.
And it’s actually quite dangerous to be in a situation like this. A former Redditor shared:
My ex’s two best friends were getting married and the bride had spent her bachelorette party just running around Orange County being normal bachelorette party girls. They all arrived back to the house… yelling, being drunk and loud, and eventually her sister and another friend got into a serious yelling/fighting match. The groom decided he had enough, pulled out a gun, and told everyone to leave. She gave the ring back within five minutes and moved out the next day.
Sounds like this bride-to-be definitely made the right choice.
12. It was off… then back on.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/igFdLwBCV0W18qnMmY/giphy.gif”]
Most marriages have ups and downs, but this couple takes the cake.
Reddit user JunQkie wrote:
My friend sent a mass group text to everyone saying there isn’t going to be a wedding about one week before it [happened]. Apparently the bride was being unfaithful during her bachelorette party. Got another group text about two days after the first one saying they have talked things through and its back on again.
That must have been a really, really awkward wedding.
13. The wedding was called off for financial reasons.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/YU7aYGvV8zcjUb9Rp8/giphy.gif”]
Sometimes people who get too drunk at their bachelorette share really important information.
And that information can be toxic. User ThrowAwayStow_Away wrote:
My then-fiancée got hammered at her bachelorette party and came home and admitted to me that she was 662K in debt. 662K. She was only 34 but had student loans from undergrad, two master’s, years of rolling over car loans and re-financing her townhouse as well as credit cards. I called the wedding off. She was furious [at] me and at herself – she never drinks and can’t handle it.
We think that’s pretty intense!
14. She didn’t even want to marry him.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/3ohhwvUuCCc5ySQus0/giphy.gif”]
Usually, if a bachelorette party ruins a wedding, the wedding was never really meant to be.
That certainly sounds like the case with this scenario. Reddit user Fattigerr wrote:
I was partying downtown with some buddies during a bachelor party. We ended up running into a bachelorette party twice during the evening. Fancy that, eh? I saw the bride-to-be dancing with some dude in a bar then heard her say, “I don’t know why I’m getting married to him…”
We definitely hope this wedding didn’t occur.
15. This bride and groom disagreed on something pretty important.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/3FBwwRCNTSa52/giphy.gif”]
It’s tough when any wedding is canceled, but it’s especially sad when the couple just realizes their incompatibility.
Redditor eh_dub wrote:
On an expensive out-of-town bachelorette party (mandated by the bride), we were talking to the bride when she drops the bombshell of “I don’t know if I want kids.” This was a couple of weeks before the wedding. I was pretty good friends with the groom and knew this was a deal breaker for him. Once we pulled our jaws from the table, we looked at her and told her that she seriously needs to have this conversation immediately. The wedding was called off a week later.
Things were probably better that way, though!
16. The bride cheated with another woman.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/n3VgzrLdq8e3e/giphy.gif”]
How does a bridal shower lead to a ruined wedding?
Just read this from user Eldergoth:
My girlfriend had a bridal shower for a friend of hers at the house. They decided to have a party afterwards. My girlfriend calls me up and some of her friends call their SOs to show up. The party is getting wild and raunchy. The bride-to-be was caught having sex with… another woman. The groom found out and called off the wedding.
17. The bride got busy with the best man.
[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/1fkFfEPl28qUZglSSd/giphy.gif”]
This one seems like it’s straight out of a movie. And it cost a lot of money, too.

My boyfriend broke off his wedding the morning of because he found out that his best man slept with his fiancée the night before. He had called his best man to go pick up his fiancée because she was drunk and completely out of it at the bachelorette party, and none of her friends wanted to leave to take her home. Well, they screwed in the back of the car in the driveway of my boyfriend’s parents house. His sister caught them and told my brother the next morning. $60,000 wedding down the drain!
