Oh no. Oh no. This must be some kind of joke, right? Montreal-based designing duo Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, who operate under the label Fecal Matter (also known by its French handle @matieresfecales), created something so frightening that we want to hide under our covers forever. The pair released a new shoe design called the “Skin Heel,” and it’s so much scarier than what you’re picturing.

!!"

Fecal Matter, known for its bizarro, barely-human aesthetic, has freaked us out many times before. The brand’s editorial images depict otherworldly beings in BDSM-inspired leathers and chains, tattered dresses, and blood-splattered tunics. But these Skin Heels have reached a new level of disturbing.

What began as a digitally constructed design that only existed with the help of Photoshop has since become a real-life shoe that Dalton herself modeled on Instagram. Together with artist Sarah Sitkin, who specializes in replicating body parts in silicon in the name of fashion, Dalton and Bhaskaran brought their fantasy heel into reality — moles, skin texture, hair, and all.

The first pair were moulded around Dalton’s feet and legs, and are therefore a perfect match to her actual extremities, making them über realistic.

If Fecal Matter fans wish to get their own pair of Skin Heels, they’ll have to fork over $10,000 to fund the customization couture process.

“We can get this alien look and present it and tweak it with Photoshop and make it look really realistic,” Bhaskaran told Vogue on October 24th. “But at the same time, there is always this dysphoria in us. There is this urge inside of us to take what we do on the Internet and try to create that via real life. That is what we are doing with the shoes.”

To be honest, the real Skin Heels are way creepier than their Photoshopped forefathers. We think it has something to do with that extra spur on the back.

And yes, one can walk in them — if one tries really, really hard.

Listen, we really hate the look of these shoes but we can’t deny their uniqueness. If anyone was going to create a pair of heels that makes a person’s skin crawl, it was going to be Fecal Matter. We just wish maybe they didn’t.
