Yadier Molina, catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, has started a GoFundMe for the people of Puerto Rico. Molina will visit his homeland later this week to deliver much needed supplies.
The baseball star has already raised over $139,000 for Puerto Ricans. “I’m expecting no power, no food, no water. But what I am bringing is what I can, whatever I can to help.”
Molina writes: “Foundation 4 is in transit from Miami to deliver help to the Puerto Rican family and community! Thank you to everyone for helping with donations! We still need more help!! Blessings” on Instagram.
Hurricane Maria occurred on September 20th leaving the island devastated. Today, access to drinking water has been restored to 45%, which means half of the land is still without water. Only 5% of Puerto Rico has electricity and 14% of cell towers are functioning. There are currently 12,600 U.S. response team members on the island trying to help the victims and their families.
