The Reason Why Prince Harry Thanked Meghan Markle’s Wedding Makeup Artist Will Make Your Heart Explode

The royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was epic for so many reasons: We finally got to see Harry marry the love of his life, an American actress and philanthropist became real English royalty, and so many classic traditions were adjusted to make the whole ceremony a little more modern. Of course, there’s also the fact that Meghan looked absolutely beautiful. Everything from her dress to her accessories to her makeup was utter perfection — and apparently we aren’t the only ones who thought so. Prince Harry actually thanked Meghan’s wedding makeup artist, and the reason why is so sweet.

In case you forgot, Meghan’s makeup look on her wedding day was extremely simple. Her skin looked fresh and glow-y, her lipstick was the perfect nude for her skin tone, and her eye makeup was just the slightest touch of smokey. This minimalist look really allowed Meghan’s natural beauty to shine through, which was exactly the point.

Back in May, Meghan’s makeup artist, Daniel Martin (a celebrity makeup artist, a Dior  Brand Ambassador and Honest Beauty Creative Color Consultant), spoke with Elle about the look. Daniel explained that they chose to go with such a pared down look because they wanted to make Meghan look more modern. He said, “If Meghan had much more makeup on, her face would have been the focus and not the gracefulness of her dress. It would have been distracting, and that’s what you don’t want when the dress is the main attraction. Makeup should be the finishing touch to the dress, never the other way around… especially on your wedding day!”

Apparently, Prince Harry agrees. Daniel recently spoke to InStyle about the big day, and said, “After the ceremony Harry kept saying thank you. He was thanking me for making her look like herself.”

If that’s not the sweetest thing you’ve ever heard, then we don’t know what is! As we already know, Harry said, “You look amazing” after Meghan walked down the aisle, and it’s pretty clear now that he felt that way because she looked completely herself.

Daniel said that even he couldn’t help but feel emotional when he saw Meghan after the ceremony, “It was almost like she looked at me and said, ‘What did you think? How’d it go?’ And I lost it. It was so moving and so perfect and the day couldn’t have been better.” We definitely agree on that!
