According to an October 10th People report, singer Selena Gomez is currently seeking treatment after having a panic attack during a recent hospital stay. Gomez has reportedly been admitted to the hospital twice within the past few weeks for medical issues pertaining to her Lupus diagnosis and 2017 kidney transplant.

Vogue reports that Gomez has reentered the same New York City psychiatric facility that housed her for two weeks earlier this year. A source close to Gomez told People that the singer is undergoing dialectical behavior therapy, a method by which a person’s confidence is built up while a therapist helps them build skills used to block out negative thoughts.

“She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point,” the source said. “She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues. She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support.”

On September 23rd, Gomez announced via Instagram that she would be taking a social media hiatus in order to “live my life present to the moment I have been given,” she wrote in her caption. Gomez continued, “Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember — negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings.”
