Any fashion enthusiast will tell you that the September issue of Vogue is arguably the most important and influential issue of the year. And this year, both Vogue and British Vogue made waves with their September issue covers. Queen Beyoncé appears on the cover of America’s Vogue and Dame Rihanna graces the front of British Vogue. Although both covers are equally gorgeous and drastically different from one another, Beyoncé and Rihanna fans are tearing each other apart over which celeb wore their flower crown best. Um…
Both Bey and RiRi rocked oversized floral headpieces on their Vogue covers, and yes, we admit the headpieces look similar. But Beyoncé paired hers with a white boho Gucci dress whereas Rihanna repped a purple Prada number. Despite the different styling and aesthetics of their separate photoshoots, fans are warring online over who wore it best — because Beyoncé and Rihanna can’t both be winners. That would be ludicrous (and yes, that is sarcasm there).
The battle seemingly began when Vogue America released their cover on August 6th, six days after British Vogue released theirs. The first shot was fired by a Twitter user who snidely responded to Vogue America, “Thanks for [the] Rihanna concept.”

The Bey Hive immediately swooped in to defend their Queen.

Team Rihanna then suffered this excruciating blow. It looks like Bey was ahead of the game.

But RiRi fans weren’t going to give up yet.

If those arguing about the flower crowns would zoom out for a moment, they would realize that both of these covers are historic. Beyoncé’s was shot by Tyler Mitchell, the first black photographer to shoot a Vogue America cover in the magazine’s 126-year history. And Rihanna is the first black woman — ever — to be on a September issue cover of British Vogue.

These are ~huge~ strides forward in the world of fashion, and we should all be incredibly proud of both music/fashion/life icons.
