When you’re lounging in a giant pool floaty shaped like a unicorn with all your best gal pals, what could possibly go wrong? As one group of women found out, that unicorn floaty could get them into more trouble than they anticipated. Last weekend, police had to rescue a bunch of women stranded on their unicorn pool float in the middle of a Minnesota lake. And obviously, the video is hilarious.
On August 11th, two deputies from the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office were on a routine park check when they spotted the inflatable winged beast in Fish Lake. Local Fox news affiliate, KMSP-TV, reported that the deputies initially asked the women on the float for a picture. However, the deputies quickly realized the floaty and its occupants were stuck in the lake’s weeds.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office Twitter account tweeted that after “a short period of laughter,” the two deputies jumped into action.
Using his “mad rescue roping skills,” one of the deputies was able to pull the women (and their giant floaty) back to the dock. Thankfully, the other deputy had the foresight to film the great unicorn rescue for social media purposes.
The hysterical video has been viewed on Twitter over 400,000 times. (We’re responsible for at least 100,000 — it’s just too funny!)

As if the video isn’t enough to get you chuckling, the banter between the Sheriff’s Office Twitter account and concerned citizens is truly top-notch comedy.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that every once in a while, something like the giant inflatable unicorn rescue gives them the opportunity to laugh and recharge before getting back to business.

We’d like to extend our gratitude to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office. We’re so glad those deputies were in the right place at the right time to help save that rare and mythical beast (and that group of ladies, too).
