Rejoice! The Best Netflix Movie Of The Summer Might Be Getting A Sequel

If you haven’t already watched Netflix’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (aka our new favorite movie), what are you doing? Go watch it! For the rest of you, we have great news: To All The Boys is probably going to get a sequel. But don’t get too carried away with that happy dance — this news isn’t all sunshine, rainbows, and Peter Kavinskys. If and when this sequel happens, our heroes Lara Jean and Peter might be destined for doom.

Netflix’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is based on the New York Times bestseller written by Jenny Han. The YA novel is the first of a trilogy, following Lara Jean Covey’s life after her secret love letters to past and present crushes are sent out. And you know what “trilogy” means: we could be getting two more flicks.

The sequel would most likely be based on the second book in Han’s series, entitled P.S. I Still Love Youin which Lara Jean tries to wrap her head around being in a relationship with Peter. She’s more confused than ever, now that their contract has been thrown out the window.

And when another boy from Lara Jean’s past returns — ahem, John Ambrose McClaren from model UN — Lara Jean must grapple with new feelings and major decisions.

Susan Johnson, director of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, talked to Entertainment Tonight about the potential for a Netflix sequel. Johnson noted that Netflix usually waits 28 days after a premiere to decide a show or sequel’s fate.

We’re currently 11 days out from To All The Boys’ August 17th premiere, so we’ll have to sit tight for a few more weeks.

But while we’re all anxiously waiting, we can do our part by signing this Care2 petition directed at Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings, demanding a To All The Boys sequel. And we can watch the romcom for the 22nd time to show Netflix that we care. We really care.
