We’re Having Serious Travel Envy For Selena Gomez’s Destination Birthday

Selena Gomez — only the second most-followed person in the entire world of Instagram, NBD — is out celebrating her 27th birthday (yep, that makes her a Cancer) on the lovely streets of Rome, Italy. After serving as the maid of honor at her cousin Priscilla DeLeon’s wedding in Texas, she hopped on a flight to frolic (and eat!) amongst the ancient streets of Italy.

Seen with her producer Andrea Iervolino, her friends Ashley Cook and Caroline Franklin, and her grandmother Debbie Jean Gibson. Of course, paparazzi snapped loads of pics of Selena and friends as they walked through the streets taking in the glorious Italian sunshine. And while we don’t love paps stalking celebrities, we did love getting a chance to see her gorgeous look!

Selena rocked a green tiered dress…

…that was a lovely shade somewhere between mint and pea — and it felt oh-so-Mediterranean paired with some adorable espadrilles. Her hair was down and flowing, and the whole look was simple and beautiful — perfect for a stroll through Rome’s enchanting streets. Yes, please.

The colors are so perfect for an Italian getaway. So earthy and warm.

She dined at Pierluigi, a classy restaurant in the middle of the city.

According to E! News, they ate well, Italian style:

“Selena arrived for lunch with a group of friends…The table shared several dishes such as raw fish, tagliatelle with lobster, pasta with vodka sauce and various salads.”

They also had ice cream and tiramisu, because… when in Rome. E! News continued by reporting that Selena and her group were in great spirits — low-key chatting, eating, and laughing for about two hours. Nothing too over-the-top.

Is your mouth watering yet? Ours is.

The Italians really know how to prep seafood, and there’s nothing like good pasta, made authentically.

They were later found walking around Piazza del Popola and the Spanish Steps.

Of course, it was super hot outside — in the high 90s — so they guzzled a bunch of water, shopped at street vendors, and didn’t stay out too long.

According to E! News, “Selena seemed very happy to be in Rome and was taking in the beautiful sites and all of the culture.”

We’re so happy to hear it!

When in Rome, go to Naples!

Later, Selena and her friends were spotted taking a boat to the Island of Capri, down near Naples. On the boat, she posed for pictures with her friends and took in the majestic beauty of the country.

Paps later caught her walking around shopping for sandals and hats while drinking an iced tea. Apparently, there were loads of hugs going around and happy vibes.

It’s Italy! How can you not be ecstatic?

We are so happy to see Selena happy!

She deserves it — especially after dealing with a kidney transplant and the healing afterward, caused by the autoimmune disease Lupus.

In the Make It Real podcast interview, Selena recently revealed some of how that healing process was for her: “Last year, I took a lot of time off… I think that I needed a moment to myself because I do feel like I was growing and changing.”

She said she took advantage of the powers of therapy and came to the realization that she loves to be alone — which is a pretty big deal for someone whose relationships were thrust into the spotlight for years.

She also did a social media cleanse.

Speaking on the Make It Real podcast, she said:

“It would just get me down a lot, so I just think taking breaks is really important. But just know that most of it isn’t real, and I hate to say that because I don’t mean to be rude, but it’s unrealistic in a lot of ways. For me, I want to protect the youngest generation because they’re exposed to so much information, and I feel like that causes a lot of anxiety. Sometimes people are exposed to too much, and I think you should really protect what you’re seeing, and you should be really mindful of how it makes you feel.”

Selena also began working with A21, a global anti-human-trafficking nonprofit, and started working on her new album — which is apparently finished! Yay!

It sounds like, through all of her many triumphs and tribulations, Selena has a lot to celebrate. Happy 27th, girl!
