“Riverdale’s” Charles Melton Has The Cutest Nickname For Girlfriend Camila Mendes

Our Riverdale faves, Veronica Lodge and Reggie Mantle, are dating for real — actors Camila Mendes and Charles Melton have been Instagram official for over a month now, and their relationship is too cute to handle. The co-star couple is definitely going strong, and Melton even has an unexpected nickname for Mendes: “baby dragon.”

Fans first learned of the pet name at the People’s Choice Awards last night, according to E! News. Melton, who wasn’t on the red carpet, acted as a huge fan with a question for Mendes about their relationship, how cute they are, and what it’s like to work together. Mendes later mentioned that Melton calls her “baby dragon.” But the meaning behind it was kept secret until Mendes was the guest on Busy Philipps’ late-night talk show, Busy Tonight.

There, she revealed the true meaning of Melton’s nickname for her.

“I can be quite… I guess just ferocious is the only word, but it’s like a cute type of ferocious… I’m Brazilian, we’re like passionate, so sometimes it’s just like a little baby dragon comes out,” Mendes told Phillipps.

After a few months of speculation about their relationship, Mendes posted a picture of her and Melton hugging — captioning it, “mine” — and fans just could not get enough. While they both keep their Instagram accounts largely individual (not too many couple’s pictures to make us jealous), they still share the occasional snapshot of their new relationship. But after dealing with the inevitable trolls on social media, Mendes made it clear that she’s the happiest she’s ever been.
