Update: Netflix Is Taking Away Your Favorite Show Forever, Which Is SO Not Fair

UPDATE (December 3rd, 2018 at 3:19 p.m.): As of the last 30 minutes, Netflix has decided to keep Friends, according to their Instagram account.

Sometimes, we take Netflix for granted. When a big show hits, we just assume it’ll be there forever. Well, that’s not the case — and as they say, all good things must come to an end. Friends will be leaving the streaming service at the start of the new year, which means you might want to get your marathons in now.

It seems like the hit show only appeared on Netflix just the other day, which makes its departure even sadder. While it’s been running in syndication on channels like TBS and Nick At Nite for some time, it’s still nice to have control over the episodes you want to watch. And since Friends has so many classic episodes, it’s always good to put on when entertaining guests.

But this doesn’t mean you need to dust off your DVDs just yet. While it may not be available on Netflix ever again, it’s likely going to be on another streaming network. The issue is, it hasn’t launched just yet. According to Elite Daily, WarnerMedia currently owns Friends and is planning on a streaming service of their own that’ll likely debut sometime next year. So, it’d make a lot of sense to host it there. Especially since fans can’t get enough.

Still, people on Twitter can’t help but feel a little upset over the news.

Spending time at Central Perk with your fave fictional buddies is a great way to say farewell to 2018.
