Mila Kunis Just Admitted That She Screwed Up When She and Macaulay Culkin Broke Up — Hey, We’ve All Been There

We all have those thoughts that sometimes keep us up until 4 a.m. Why did I say bless you when my coworker yawned? I can’t believe I pushed my little brother down the stairs at age 3. Wow, my relationship with Macaulay Culkin ended so horribly. Well, that last one isn’t a thought that the majority of us deal with. But for actress Mila Kunis, her bad breakup with Culkin is something she admittedly regrets.

On the July 23rd episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, Kunis talked about her immigration to America, the array of roles she’s taken during her acting career, and she even opened up about her tumultuous relationship with Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin. The two dated back in the early 2000s.

The Bad Moms star told Shepard that she and Culkin’s relationship ended with “a horrible, horrible, horrible breakup.” She continued, “I f—ed up. I was an a—— in my twenties, and I’ll be the first to admit it.”

After love sparked in 2002, the two dated for eight years before things went south. Kunis said she can now finally admit that it was fully her fault that the relationship tanked.

“That’s something that took me a long time to come out and be like, ‘Yeah, you know what, I was a d—,’ and accept it, and I own it now,” Kunis continued to tell Shepard. “And it’s f—— up what I did. It’s f—— up what I did and it’s f—— up how I did it.”

Though we don’t know the specific details behind the breakup, on The Howard Stern Show in 2016, Kunis mentioned that she had trouble dating someone who was a world famous child star. She explained, “He was huge because you couldn’t walk down the street with him.”

Once she and Culkin finally parted ways, Kunis noted that she took a lot of time to figure out why she did what she did and to “regroup [herself] as a human being.”

Kunis admitted that it’s incredibly hard for her to forgive herself. But in this scenario, she said, “You know, it’s been so long like I feel like enough time has gone by. I think enough mutual friends have been like, everybody kind of forgave everybody for what went down.”

Both Kunis and Culkin are now happy in separate relationships (Kunis with husband Ashton Kutcher and Culkin with girlfriend Brenda Song).

Sometimes things turn out the way they do in order for someone to learn an important life lesson. Kunis has seemingly lived and learned and we’re happy that she’s reached a point of self-forgivingness.
