Katy Perry and Taylor Swift recently called off their long-running feud, but one of them has finally revealed exactly how it all went down. Katy’s iconic cameo at the end of Swift’s most recent music video for “You Need To Calm Down” saw the two pop stars embrace while dressed as the literal perfect pair — a hamburger and fries.

According to Glamour, their feud started back in 2012 when three of Perry’s tour dancers were offered spots on Swift’s Red tour. But these dancers ended up leaving before the end of the Red tour and rejoined Perry on her Prismatic tour. And the feud was born.

The truce — which took seven years to achieve — took everyone by surprise because the bad blood between the former friends had lasted for so long.

Now, Katy is spilling the beans about their journey to reconciliation and the one request she had for Taylor.

On Tuesday, Katy Revealed All During A Radio Interview

Katy was the first one to reach out between the pair.

In 2018, Katy literally extended an olive branch to Taylor ahead of her Reputation world tour show in May 2018.

It Was A Process

Speaking with Australia’s Kyle & Jackie O on KIIS 1065, Katy explained why she sent her the peace token.

It “was a process” Katy explained. “I just thought [Taylor] was about to embark on something new and big and needed the support.”

Katy Felt A Pang Of Empathy

After finishing her own tour, Katy realized that they have so much in common.

“Truly it was as I was finishing [my tour that] I realized how much we have in common and maybe there’s only five other people in the world that can have the same type of conversations and understand where we’re coming from,” she told the radio hosts. “We should celebrate our commonality our friendship and to be able to be there for each other.”

Things Didn’t Happen Straight Away

While Taylor posted the olive branch on Instagram immediately, it was a while before they really began patching things up.

According to E!, the two stars began running into each other at industry events. Things weren’t as awkward anymore, so they decided to take things to the next level. “I just went up to her and I was like, ‘Hey, you know it’s been a long time and I think we’ve grown up a little bit and I just wanted to say I’m sorry and I’m really here for you and that I love you and I hope that we can be friends in the future,’” Katy added.

Then There Was A Big Idea

After talking for a while and rebuilding trust with one another, Taylor floated the idea of making their reunion public.

Katy told KIIS 1065 that Taylor got her number and then they started texting. “She had this really cool idea and I said, ‘Yeah, let’s talk about it’, and she invited me over to her house.”

But Katy Still Had One Request

And we can’t really blame her.

“I said, ‘The only way I’m coming to your house is if I can hold your new cat,'” she chuckled. “And she made me some cookies… and they’re actually delicious.”

The Feud Was Squashed

Realizing they could be good role models for women in similar situations, the pop singers decided enough time had passed and to officially call a truce.

“I think that both her and I, we have influence to young people and especially young girls who are in this type of situation day in and day out at school,” Katy said.

And Ever Since “You Need To Calm Down,” Everything Has Been Great

“I can trust her and she can trust me,” Perry told Kyle & Jackie O. “And we’ll see each other in the halls of the music industry and not avoid each other and we’ll embrace. And I think it’s amazing that we have this opportunity to change, and I just hope that other people can learn from it, too.”

Now that’s true girl power! Do you have a feud you need to reconcile? Maybe it’s time to go online and buy an olive branch or two.
