These Are Wildest Kardashian-Jenner Scandals of All Time

From cheating scandals galore to endless cultural appropriation, the Kardashian-Jenner clan has always found some way to shock or offend the masses.

And part of the drama of it all is that we sort of want it. We’ve been watching them for years and years, and somehow — despite their utter ridiculousness — we’ve found a way to casually forget.

Except, well, we haven’t. Since about 2007, the Kardashian clan has been making headlines in one way or another — usually by doing or saying something exceptionally tacky — and it’s not gotten better.

Whether it’s a short-lived marriage or a questionable parking choice on Kylie’s part, there’s no shortage of coverage when it comes to Jenner and Kardashian scandals.

The problem is this: Some of the attention isn’t exactly fair. Kim didn’t mean for her sex tape to be released, and yet people mercilessly shamed her for it. On the other hand, she has been accused of wearing blackface — without apology and without end, and so we have to wonder why this family loves themselves a juicy scandal.

So, let’s take a walk down the oh-so-scandalous memory lane, hoping beyond hope that these people figure out how to find some decency and accountability.

What shocking Kardashian-Jenner scandal stands out most to you?

Let’s just start with the infamous sex tape, shall we?

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/YQMu6DtL6xAmN2LMrA/giphy.gif”]

It was viewed, apparently, more than 200 million times.

It was 2007 that put the Kardashian family firmly on the reality TV map. That year, Kim’s sex tape video with her former boyfriend Ray J was released by Vivid Entertainment (gross, by the way, people; this should be illegal) — leading her to fight against the release (but ultimately Kim settled in court for $5 million bucks).

After this happened, the Kardashian family was thrust into the limelight.

Then there was the Kardashian credit card, LOL.

[fm_pinterest url=”https://www.pinterest.com/pin/440438038559007477/”]

Which charged people a lot….in fees.

If you are the type of person who doesn’t like to needlessly part with cash, it’s probably best not to open a credit card designed by a reality TV family.

The Kardashians, apparently, didn’t believe this to be the case. In 2010, they launched a “Kard” that “clearly targeted young teenagers and the less educated” and was loaded with fees. After a bunch of criticism, it was pulled from the market. Whew.

By 2011, Kim got some not-so-nice coverage for her wedding.

[fm_pinterest url=”https://www.pinterest.com/pin/401875966744669632/”]

Which lasted 72 days.

While we aren’t in the business of shaming people for their not-so-smart decisions (hey, doesn’t everyone make mistakes from time to time?) Kim’s super quick marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries made headlines.

People thought it was a publicity stunt — and to be fair, we’re not entirely convinced otherwise.

Remember when Khloé wore a Native American headdress?

[fm_instagram url=”https://www.instagram.com/p/phQH3BHGuW/?utm_source=ig_embed”]

Kultural appropriation much?

Back in 2014, the family decided to throw a party for North. It was called kidchella (cute enough, whatever), a Coachella-themed birthday party because apparently very small children need to celebrate their birthdays in the style of a wildly expensive (and often drug-fueled) music festival.

Sure, okay.

In a picture, Khloé was spotted wearing the headdress that sent shockwaves through Native American communities. And rightfully so. (Oh, and there was also the time she wore a Niqab).

Then there was the Kylie Jenner Interview Magazine cover…

[fm_instagram url=”https://www.instagram.com/p/-6vIQ6w-Gs/”]

…in which compared fame to being “trapped” in a wheelchair. Yikes.

We all know that the Kardashians think they’re above ethics or accountability, and that was certainly the case when Kylie, with flagrant insensitivity, posed in a wheelchair on a December 2015 cover of Interview Magazine.

The point is this: Disability is not an accessory and you shouldn’t use as an aesthetic.

It must run in the family — because Khloé also poked fun at mental illness when she called herself  ‘Khlo-CD,” which rhymes with OCD.

Kylie struck again in 2016 with an advertisement….

[fm_instagram url=”https://www.instagram.com/p/BNBK41BDyk_/?utm_source=ig_embed”]

…which blatantly copied off someone else’s IG post.

Kylie’s cosmetics company landed her the title of ‘self-made billionaire’ — which many people have contested, with ire, let’s just say. From her sold-out lip kits (more on that below) to her sets (which have all-too-appropriate names like “Money Mindset”), Kylie’s made bank.

So you’d think she could hire a design team that, you know, thinks for themselves?

Apparently not. She stole the look of a post from indie makeup artist Vlada Haggerty — and a nasty lawsuit ensued.

But back to those Kylie lip kits…

[fm_pinterest url=”https://www.pinterest.com/pin/295900638012795772/”]

Did you know they contained the same formulas as much cheaper cosmetics?

Kylie Cosmetics and ColourPop are manufactured by the same company (this is a fact). But many have suspected that products from both lines come from exact SAME formulation, which means Kylie is charging a crazy markup.

Kylie has said this isn’t the case.

But some beauty guru slash sleuth found that “the ingredients are just about identical.” So what gives with the ridiculous markup price?

All is fair in love and capitalism.

ColourPop’s founders said there are differences between the two brands’ formulas, but we’re not quite convinced.

Kylie’s pregnancy was kept under wraps for a while…

[fm_instagram url=”https://www.instagram.com/p/BeycUmgFTWb/?utm_source=ig_embed”]

…and surprised everyone.

While this isn’t a scandal per se, we are on the Kylie train — so why not go there? The world was shocked when it was revealed that Kylie was pregnant because she kept it under wraps better than a sneaky Beyoncé album release.

In an 11-minute mini-documentary (because, you know, that’s the kind of content we crave) her experience of her nine months of pregnancy were revealed.

Remember when Kendall pretended she was a ballerina?

[fm_instagram url=”https://www.instagram.com/p/BKY1XZjDvu2/?utm_source=ig_embed”]

All the ballerinas got pretty pissed.

Vogue Spain invited Kendall to don their cover back in 2016, and as part of the shoot, Kendall pretended she was a ballerina. Cool.

It’s not like ballet takes YEARS of training, sacrifice, and hard work, right?

Apparently, in her efforts to become a black swan, the dance community felt her attempt to be reductive and flippant. Kendall said of the drama, “It confuses me how people can get that upset when there are so many important things going on in the world.” Which she tried to address in the next scandal, apparently…

The time Kendall also pretended that Pepsi could solve the world’s issues…

[fm_youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA5Yq1DLSmQ”]

…like racial tension and other societal issues.

In a 2017 Pepsi ad, Kendall attends a protest and hands a can of Pepsi to a police officer. The only problem? The fact that America’s issues with racism, gun violence, and other social ills can’t be solved by downing soda offered by a socialite model.

This one was on Pepsi as much as it was on Kendall.

If this should have taught her anything, it should have been to question everything. Like her promotion of the Fyre Festival, maybe. Or her flagrant disregard for the fact that other models who don’t have millionnaire families have to, you know, work.

Also in 2016: The Taylor-Kim-Kanye scandal.

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/3o85xvcA2ns7JrkQBa/giphy.gif”]

…whose side were you on?

Remember Taylor’s Reputation era? You know, the one before all the rainbows and unicorns? Reputation-era Taylor, arguably, was the best Taylor. Because that was the era inspired by Taylor getting fed up for having a “bad reputation.”

So what caused it?

Kanye claimed that he sought approval for mentioning Taylor in his song, “Famous.” Taylor denied it. Then Kim leaked the phone call. Mind. Blowing.

Would you buy a Biggie or Tupac t-shirt from Kendall and Kylie?

[fm_instagram url=”https://www.instagram.com/p/BV7idXEAt5_/”]

Yeah, us either.

We’re not sure if we’re living in some sort of horrible alternate universe or something, but there was a time when the two sisters decided it would be okayto use Biggie and Tupac’s images on clothing without permission. And profit off them.

The late rappers’ families were obviously upset.

Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s mother, wrote in an Instagram post:

“I am not sure who told @kyliejenner and @kendalljenner that they had the right to do this. The disrespect of these girls not to even reach out to me or anyone connected to the estate baffles me. I have no idea why they feel they can exploit the deaths of 2pac and my son Christopher to sell a T-shirt. This is disrespectful, disgusting, and exploitation at its worst!!!”

Yikes.

The line was PROMPTLY pulled.

Kim’s blackface moves were pretty shocking.

[fm_twitter url=”https://www.instagram.com/kimkglam/?utm_source=ig_embed”]

…leading to serious backlash.

Cultural appropriate is the worst. And we don’t understand how, when you work in television and media, you might not understand how it works.

So when Kim donned blackface in her KKW Beauty advertisements, people were upset.

Kim’s excuse? It was the editor’s fault. Nope. Oh, and remember when she dressed up as Aaliyah?

[fm_twitter url=”https://twitter.com/Essence/status/925852″]

Remember when Caitlyn sided with Donald Trump?

[fm_pinterest url=”https://www.pinterest.com/pin/527765650079310448/”]

Yeah, people didn’t love that.

While these days Caitlyn has shunned President Trump for his lackluster policies and record regarding transgender issues, there was a day when Caitlyn was all about Donald Trump and the Republican party.

And that just didn’t sit well with people.

She has since said, “The reality is that the trans community is being relentlessly attacked by this president…the leader of our nation has shown no regard for an already marginalized and struggling community. He has ignored our humanity. He has insulted our dignity.”

Even though the majority of the drama is around the Kardashian-Jenner women, Rob isn’t exempt.

[fm_pinterest url=”https://www.pinterest.com/pin/829436456352427092/”]

Remember his sexist revenge post? EW.

When Rob’s relationship with Black Chyna — tumultuous at BEST — was on the rocks, he shared super inappropriate images of her on Instagram in some sort of gross revenge scheme.

Because that isn’t awful or totally pathetic at all.

And they have a child together — which makes all of this even ickier.

If you feel like your head is spinning after reading all of that, you’re not alone.

Kalling All Kardashian-Jenners: Think before you act or speak.

We don’t want to totally bash the Kardashians though, as they have done a lot of good work, too.

Kim’s latest project is another type of reality TV show, but this one focuses on our criminal justice and reform system. You can learn more here.
