The Internet Has Lost It Over This Video Of Meghan Markle Closing A Car Door, And Come On, People
While she likely expected to be in the spotlight as an actress, it’s not too clear if Meghan Markle ever realized that one day people would analyze her every move. Now, as a member of the royal family, people are more interested in the Duchess of Sussex than ever before. Especially since that title brings a lot of expectations.
Those expectations are likely why people are causing a stir over Markle’s latest accomplishment — closing a car door. Yes, you read that right. Even the simple act of shutting the door by herself (and not slamming any fingers!) is a sign that Markle brings a fresh perspective to the royal table. See, when you’ve married into the family, opening and closing doors is something you don’t often do in public.
So, what does it all mean? For one, it could mean that Markle is proving to the world that she’s still her own person with her own capabilities. While royal family members from decades past might have frowned at the display, it seems as if Markle isn’t afraid to break etiquette. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why she’s so relatable. It could also mean that Markle put zero thought into the action, as she’s been closing car doors her entire life.

You have to admit — once you remember that Meghan Markle is a duchess, it does seem a little strange at first.

Markle might not have realized it at the time, but that one small gesture really does speak volumes. By closing the door herself, she’s proving that she doesn’t need anyone to take care of her. She’s her own person outside of a relationship, which surely was one of the reasons why Prince Harry was drawn to her in the first place.
Next time you close a car door, make sure to do it like a real duchess.
