These Comics Perfectly Describe How Gross Our Relationships Can Be

If you only paid attention to the way relationships are portrayed in certain movies and television shows, or just based them off of what they seem to be like on Instagram, you would probably think that they’re full of rainbows and sunshine all the time. And really, the beginning of a relationship can sometimes be this way. It’s all cuddles and kisses and cute dates, and trying to impress each other by being romantic and sweet. But anyone who has been in a long-term relationship or has lived with their significant other can tell you the truth: Relationships can actually be pretty gross sometimes.

Once you really know your partner and they really know you, a lot of the walls you both built up come down as you start to show each other who you truly are. You stop waking up a little earlier than them to apply concealer in the morning. You no longer feel the need to shave your entire body before a date, and you won’t hide your Flamin’ Hot Cheetos addiction any longer. Your partner does things along the same lines, and before you know it, you’re both trying to impress each other with how gross you can be.

Pretty much nothing describes that better than these comics by Israeli comic artists Yehude and Maya Devir, a married couple who, among other things, documents just how gross our relationships really are. Here are some of their best comics:
