31 Celeb Wax Figures That Don’t Actually Look Like Celebs

When you really give it some thought, celebrity wax figures are quite strange.

Who came up with the idea to immortalize a celebrity in wax, so that people could pay money to walk around, look at the figures, and take pictures with them for corny social media captions later on? It’s an odd enough concept on its own, but when you think about how many celebrity wax figures have gone horribly wrong, it’s even weirder.

Sure, some celeb wax figures look freakishly similar to the actual celebrity – like, even when they’re standing next to each other, you can’t really tell who’s who. But a lot of them are bad. And not just bad, but, like, horribly awful. Like bad in a way that makes you wonder if the person who created the wax figure has ever actually seen the celebrity they’re modeling it after.

Here are some of the worst celebrity wax figures that don’t actually look like the person they’re supposed to look like. Some of these are so bad, you won’t even be able to stop laughing:

1. Beyonce

Beyonce has had a few wax figures done in various museums around the world, and one thing has been consistent: they are all truly terrible.

Not just terrible as in they don’t look like Queen Bey, but actually offensive.

Some of them feature skin that is way too light and almost makes it look like Bey is a white woman. Not cool.

2. Nicki Minaj

First of all, Nicki Minaj’s wax figure looked literally nothing like her face.

Second, and even worse, the position the wax figure was in led a lot of tourists to take, uh, very inappropriate pictures with it.

It ended up having to be removed from the museum.

Poor Nicki.

3. Julia Roberts

It’s quite possible that whoever made this wax replica of Julia Roberts did not like her at all. That’s how bad it is. Unless her name had an arrow pointing to this figure explicitly claiming it’s the Pretty Woman star, there’s no way anyone visiting would know that.

The eyebrows, the lips, the nose… the whole face is just completely off.

Even the hair seems drab and flat compared to Roberts’ epic curls.

4. Jennifer Lopez

There are so many questions about this particular Jennifer Lopez wax figure, like why her forehead looks quite large, and why her nose looks like someone else’s nose.

But mainly, the question is just… why? And how? How did this happen?

J-LO is a freaking queen. This is just tragic.

5. Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande’s wax figure might have nailed her pose, her outfit, and her signature high ponytail, but that’s where the similarities end.

The face does not look anything like Grande at all.

The eyebrows are off, and the eyes look weirdly dead, even for a wax figure.

6. Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck’s wax figure doesn’t just look sad, it looks like a completely different person than Ben Affleck.

The wax figure does also look sad, though, in a very weird way.

But really, if you didn’t know it was Affleck, would you know who it was supposed to be? Probably not.

7. Justin Timberlake

It is entirely possible that this wax figure of Justin Timberlake is one of the worst wax figures ever created.

If this is what someone thinks he really looks like, then he might be kind of insulted.

Aside from the fact that it looks nothing like Timberlake, it is actually quite horrifyingly creepy.

8. Lindsay Lohan

Why does this look like an evil wax figure of Lindsay Lohan in 20 years? She kind of looks like a dead-eyed housewife, not Lindsay Lohan. Also, what’s happening with the hair?

There are lots of issues here!

We would kill to hear Lohan’s thoughts on this. She’s always been brutally honest.

9. Brad Pitt

Okay, here’s the thing: Brad Pitt does not look like this. Not even close. This looks like a shady guy that you come across in the back of an alley late at night.

This does not look like Pitt.

Why is he so skinny? Why is he so creepy? And what is he wearing?!

10. Zayn Malik

While this might not be the worst celebrity wax figure ever created, it certainly isn’t the best. There’s just something about this that doesn’t look like Zayn Malik at all.

It looks like a more wholesome version of Malik who smiles all the time.

It just doesn’t have his vibe!

11. Zac Efron

Ah, yes. Zac Efron’s wax figure. Also known as the elf version of Zac Efron.

That smile is way too big and plastic looking (even though it is a wax figure), the nose is oddly pointy, and it just did not age well with Efron.

But the High School Musical fantastic inside us can’t help but get a little excited about the Wild Cats uniform.

12. Emilia Clarke

This is, quite frankly, an insult to Emilia Clarke. Even though the figure is based on her Game of Thrones character Daenerys Targayen, it just looks nothing like the actress, from the eyebrows to the eyes to essentially every single facial feature.

Yikes.

Which dragon do you have to slay to get something worthy of your actual face?

13. Leonardo DiCaprio

What… happened here? Did this person never see an actual photo of Leonardo DiCaprio?

Why does he look simultaneously dead in the eyes but also very confused?

Why are his lips like that? Who did this to him?! Leo did not get nominated for six Academy Awards for this…

14. Naomi Campbell

Remember how we thought Justin Timberlake had the worst wax figure of all time? Nope. It’s Naomi Campbell. This is literally the worst and the funniest wax figure that has ever been created.

And this is based on Naomi freakin’ Campbell, a gorgeous supermodel! Who let this get by?!

Sigh. Sometimes, there are truly no words.

15. Michael Jackson

How is it possible that this looks like the Michael Meyers version of Michael Jackson? Did someone get the two confused?

MJ has a whole bunch of wax figures, and luckily, many of them are much better than this one, but this one… well, it’s just bad.

We’ll pass on paying money to see this.

16. Miley Cyrus

While this actually does resemble Miley Cyrus in her Hannah Montana days, it still manages to look nothing like her at the same time, which is an extraordinary achievement.

Why are her lips and eyes so completely off?

And we know she’s a wax figure, but does she really not have a soul?!

17. Oprah

This might come in second after Naomi Campbell’s incredibly bad wax figure as the next worst wax figure out there.

Who looked at this and thought, “Yup, that looks like Oprah?!”

This is a terrifying Barbie-like version of the real Oprah, and it needs to go.

This feels offensive in so many ways.

18. Justin Bieber

There are lots of Justin Bieber wax figures out there, and some of them really manage to nail the singer’s looks and clothing.

But this one just misses the mark.

His face absolutely does not look right, and while Bieber’s hair was cut that way for a while, it still just does not look the same.

19. Jennifer Aniston

The person who tweeted the photo above has the right idea: this really does look like the wax version of a mixture of Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion.

And that is definitely not what Jennifer Aniston looks like in real life!

So how, and why, did this happen?

20. Whoopi Goldberg

Why does the person who made this dislike Whoopi Goldberg? What did she ever do to them?

If it was nothing, then what’s going on here?

This looks like nothing like Whoopi Goldberg, and in fact, sort of resembles a zombie or a murderer getting ready to do something terrifying.

21. Nick Jonas

It’s actually difficult to tell that this wax figure is supposed to be a younger version of Nick Jonas, that’s how little it resembles him.

And it’s especially a bad comparison now, when Jonas has grown up and looks like a totally different person.

They need to make three new figures with the JoBros now.

22. Lady Gaga

The people who made this wax figure may have nailed the outfit and the accessories and even the makeup, but they completely missed the mark when it came to Gaga’s face.

It just doesn’t resemble the singer in any way, even with the distinctive hair color and clothing.

We’re sure she had to practice her “Poker Face” upon seeing this disaster.

23. Robert Pattinson

Don’t be surprised if you look at this and think, “Wait, is that really supposed to be Robert Pattinson. It doesn’t look like him at all. it looks like a terrifying version of an older man dressed up as the British star.

WHY IS IT SO BAD.

At no angle does he look like our beloved Edward Cullen and if this was still during the Twilight craze, we’d be scared.

24. Selena Gomez

I’m a “Bad Liar,” so honestly this is tragic. It’s like the person who created this has never seen a photo of the singer.

Yes, it’s true: this wax figure of Selena Gomez is indeed the stuff of nightmares.

But it’s also downright insulting to Gomez – it looks nothing like her to the point where it’s weird that she was even the inspiration behind this.

25. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is another star with a bunch of wax figures, but this one is just really, horribly bad. We’re guessing Swift is just going to shake this one off.

It must have been really hard for the “Lover” singer to smile next to this statue and pretend to love it…

They couldn’t even get the hair right – at the time, Swift was known for her tighter blonde curls, not loose blonde waves. And where was her signature red lipstick?!

26. Katy Perry

Is it the eyebrows? The nose? The shoulders? Maybe a combination of all of the above? This looks nothing like the Katy Perry we know and love.

The pose might be something Katy Perry would do in real life, but that face is just totally off.

It doesn’t look like a wax version of Perry, it looks like a wax version of someone else, and it’s very odd.

27. Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep looks amazing on the red carpet all the time, but this wax figure? It just misses the mark. Why does her face look so pinched, annoyed, and confused all at once?

The real Streep always has a huge smile on her face! This figure looks constipated.

But at this point we’re channeling our inner Miranda Priestly and thinking, “Botched wax figures at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum? Groundbreaking.”

28. Britney Spears

This is a true crime against a pop legend. Mario Lopez even tweeted, “Whoever made this wax figure of my girl @BritneySpearsshould be arrested.”

We’re not sure if it’s the angle of the picture, the thin smirk, or unfocused eyes, but it looks more like a mug shot.

After the comedian posted on Twitter hundreds chimed in on the comments in agreement. One user even said, “I know! Wouldn’t even have been able to guess who it was.”

29. Sam Smith

Poor Sam Smith. His wax figure is completely dead in the eyes. It sort of looks like Smith, but it also sort of looks like a wax demon who is coming to steal your soul in a very sad way.

Maybe with Sam standing next to the figure with facial hair just makes it worse?

He looks pleased… so we don’t want to rain on his parade too hard.

30. Kim Kardashian

One of Kim Kardashian’s wax figures just doesn’t really seem like her. The plastic look is over the top, the face just seems off, and the eyes are way too dead and Barbie looking.

We’d love Kim to share her thoughts.

And since the reality star’s appearance is always changing, we can’t remember the last time Kim resembled this vibe at all.

31. Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman is gorgeous, this wax figure… not so much. Just like in real life, this terrible lighting contributes to making one of Hollywood’s most beautiful actresses absolutely unrecognizable.

While Kidman has definitely lightened her hair of the years, it’s an unsettling shade of blonde for someone known for their red hair.

While it might be a wax figure fail, that didn’t stop Jimmy Fallon from taking his picture with it.
