There’s nothing like a good baking show to help you wind down after a long day. Luckily, there are tons of great baking shows on Netflix.

The Great British Baking Show

The official Netflix title page for The Great British Baking Show

You might know Netflix’s The Great British Baking Show from its other name. In the U.K., it’s known as The Great British Bake Off.

No matter what you call it, it’s undoubtedly iconic. It hit the ground running back in 2010, and has been going strong ever since.

It usually showcases amateur bakers, though this sometimes changes. They square off against each other in a bake off to determine who’s the best baker in Britain.

Nailed It!

Screenshot of the title page for Nailed It!, a baking show on Netflix

Unlike most cooking competitions, Nailed It! only features terrible bakers. It’s been super popular since it first aired in 2018, inspiring a whole slew of spinoffs.

The bakers compete against each other, trying to recreate “edible masterpieces,” as Netflix puts it. For example, season seven sees them make things inspired by different Netflix originals.

They’re aiming a little lower than other bakers, though. All they want to do is try and make something edible, preferably without blowing up the kitchen.

Baking Impossible

Baking Impossible is a really original baking show from 2021. Currently, it only has one season, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for more!

Among the judges is Andrew Smyth, who invented the concept of “bakineering.” The teams have to complete their tasks in less than a day, with no prior planning.

The show has engineers and bakers combine their efforts to make scientific, confectionary creations. For example, they’ve been tasked with making edible robots and gingerbread skyscrapers.

Bake Squad

At the time of writing, Bake Squad has two seasons. It first premiered in 2021 — seems like that was a great year for baking shows on Netflix!

It focuses on four professional bakers. The show follows them as they take on different clients and bake them treats for special occasions.

Each baker competes to make the best treat for the occasion. Instead of being rated by a panel of judges, the clients choose who made the best confectionary.

Chef’s Table: Pastry

Screenshot of "Chef's Table: Pastry" logo, as seen in Netflix's trailer on YouTube

One of the best baking shows on Netflix isn’t technically a baking show at all. Chef’s Table is a Netflix docuseries that explores all culinary arts.

The show dedicates episodes to professional chefs as they recount their personal stories and discuss their unique disciplines. Chef’s Table: Pastry premiered in 2018.

It’s technically a season of the main show, but it’s definitely still worth mentioning. It follows four different pastry chefs, and will completely immerse you in their worlds.

Crazy Delicious

Screenshot of the title page for "Crazy Delicious," a baking show on Netflix

Crazy Delicious, a British cooking show, premiered in 2020. The British really do know how to make baking and cooking shows. Like Bake Off, the contestants aren’t professionals.

Every meal needs to be unique, to match the whimsical, edible set of the show. Yes, that’s right: the show is set in a completely edible, magical forest.

Contestants “forage” their ingredients from the forest, which contains everything from fresh produce to sweet treats. Crazy Delicious puts a fun twist on more traditional Netflix baking shows.

The Big Family Cooking Showdown

Screenshot of title page for Netflix show, "The Big Family Cooking Showdown"

The Big Family Cooking Showdown is another British cooking show. I originally aired on the BBC, but can also be found on Netflix.

It’s more of a cooking show than a baking show, but we thought it was worth mentioning. It’s hosted by a former winner of the GBBO, Nadiya Hussain.

Different families compete against each other to determine who has the best home cooking. If you liked GBBO, you’ll probably like this, too.

Sugar Rush

Everyone was freaking out about this baking competition when it hit Netflix in 2018. Sugar Rush challenges its contestants to bake within a super short time frame.

There are some guidelines, so the competitors aren’t left completely in the dark. They complete three rounds, each one dedicated to a specific dessert: cupcakes, confections, and cakes.

The bakers are all professional chefs, and they get to compete in teams of two, so it shouldn’t be too challenging, right? Well…that’s for you to find out.

The Big Nailed It Baking Challenge

It seems like everyone’s following the same title format as the Great British Baking Show, huh? People really love Nailed It! though, so nobody’s complaining. We aren’t, either.

This spinoff is just as fun as the original show. It’s only got one season, so if you want a show that’s short and sweet, this’ll do nicely.

It has ten inexperienced bakers compete against each other. It’s similar to Nailed It!, with more people, which equals more chaos, which equals more fun!

School of Chocolate

Who doesn’t love learning delicious dessert recipes? In School of Chocolate, we follow eight pastry chefs looking for a leg up in the industry.

They’re all studying under Amaury Guichon, a French chocolatier. While they’re all taking classes together, it’s still a competition. It’s definitely not a collaborative environment.

Whoever Guichon deems the “best in class” receives a prize of $50,000. Nobody is eliminated, though. If you fail a certain challenge, you can still redeem yourself.

The Great British Baking Show: The Professionals

Title page for "The Great British Baking Show: The Professionals," a baking show on Netflix

Don’t you love watching professional pastry chefs create insanely elaborate desserts you know you couldn’t make in your wildest dreams? Yeah, so do we.

The Great British Baking Show: The Professionals delivers on that front. All the contestants are professionals, at the top of their fields in the U.K.

They compete in teams of two. It’s more for the prestige than anything else. Unlike other spinoffs, this one has more than one season.

Nadiya Bakes

Screenshot of an Instagram post by @netflixbites, showing Nadiya Hussain

Nadiya Bakes focuses on Nadiya Hussain, who won the GBBO in 2015. Unlike many other baking shows on Netflix, this one isn’t a competition.

Instead, we see Nadiya, well, bake! It’s a more down-to-earth show, all about the everyday joys of baking, rather than cash prizes or the cutthroat competitions.

She even released a cookbook sharing all the recipes portrayed in the show, so you can recreate them at home! It has the same name as the show.

The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell

Title page for Netflix baking show, "The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell"

This is another baking show on Netflix that’s a little (well, a lot) different than the others. Like Nadiya Bakes, Curious Creations isn’t a traditional, competitive baking show.

It came out in 2018, and is the perfect show to watch around Halloween. Unfortunately, it only has one season, but it’s still worth a binge!

Christine shows the audience how she makes Halloween-themed treats, with a host of creepy characters. The show has a spooky vibe, and Christine’s “curious creations” are even spookier.

Easy-Bake Battle: The Home Cooking Competition

Title page for Netflix's "Easy-Bake Battle: The Home Cooking Competition"

Fans of Queer Eye will love this one. It’s co-hosted by Antoni Porowski, Queer Eye‘s very own cooking expert. This competition show spotlights amateur cooks.

The show favors simple meals over needlessly elaborate ones. You could actually make these meals at home. Considering the other baking shows on Netflix, that’s saying a lot.

So, yes, this is a cooking show, but they also do a lot of baking. And, yes — they use Easy-Bake ovens. How could they not?

The Great British Baking Show: Juniors

Title page for Netflix's "Great British Baking Show: Juniors"

This is another British baking show inspired by the Great British Bake Off. If a baking show is British, that’s usually a safe assumption to make.

Juniors is a little older than the other shows on here, funnily enough. It started in 2011, just one year after its parent show.

There are sixteen contestants vying to be the best junior baker in the U.K., all between nine and twelve. Fans of Master Chef Junior will enjoy this one.

Zumbo’s Just Desserts

Title page for "Zumbo's Just Desserts" on Netflix

Zumbo’s Just Desserts was on Netflix, but was removed in December 2023. At the time of this writing, it has yet to find a home on American televisions.

Still, people loved this Australian baking show, so it needed to be mentioned. It was hosted by Adriano Zumbo, a patissier dubbed the “sweet assassin.”

Zumbo gave professional cooks different dessert-related challenges to test their skills. Even though the show has ended, he teaches courses on all things pastries.

Is It Cake?

Title page for "Is it Cake?", a baking show on Netflix

In Is It Cake?, cake artists have the chance to show off their insanely good cake decorating skills. They create cake replicas of other foods and different objects.

The object and the replica are then positioned side-by-side. Guest judges, sometimes celebrities, will stand at a distance and try to guess which one is cake.

The artist that can trick the most judges wins a cash prize. If this sounds familiar, that’s because it was inspired by that meme back in 2020.

Nailed It!: Double Trouble

Screenshot of "Nailed It! Double Trouble" logo, as shown in YouTube trailer

In this version of Nailed It!, contestants are now allowed to compete in teams of two! Fans absolutely adored this season and all the chaos that ensued.

Double Trouble is technically the fifth season of the main show. Since it has a different premise and title, we’re treating it as separate.

We already know that having terrible bakers face off against each other is fun. Double the bakers, though, and you get double the fun!

Sugar Rush: The Baking Point

Title page for "Sugar Rush: The Baking Point" on Netflix

If you can’t get enough of Sugar Rush, then check out Sugar Rush: The Baking Point. The premise for this is pretty similar to the original.

It’s a Mexican adaptation of the original baking show on Netflix, with that same lighthearted vibe. The contestants are all professional culinary artists, organized into teams of six.

That’s actually the biggest difference: there are six teams instead of four. The pastry chefs do their best to make decadent desserts in a rush.

Cooked

Title page for Netflix show, "Cooked"

Cooked, a mini docuseries, is not exclusively about baking. It explores all different types of cooking, as well as the history and importance of culinary arts.

It’s hosted by Michael Pollan, a journalist. If you want to learn more about baking, and food in general, this is a great place to start.

There’s actually a whole episode dedicated to bread. If you’re a baker, then that one may be of the most interest to you.

The Great British Baking Show: Holidays

Title page for Netflix's "The Great British Baking Show: Holidays"

The Great British Baking Show, as you’ve probably noticed, has no shortage of spinoffs. This one is entirely focused on holiday (well, Christmas, mostly) fare.

They’ve been doing it every year since 2018. It’s the perfect baking show on Netflix to watch with a mug of hot cocoa.

Contestants compete for the title of “Christmas star baker.” You’d think there’s only so many Christmas-themed treats to bake, but they haven’t run out of ideas yet!

Sugar Rush: Extra Sweet

Title page for baking show on Netflix called "Sugar Rush: Extra Sweet"

The Sugar Rush spinoffs just keep on coming! When there’s a good baking show on Netflix, it seems like the streaming service really just sticks with it.

So, what’s different about this one? Sugar Rush: Extra Sweet is technically the third season of the main show, which premiered back in 2020.

In an effort to revamp the show, they added an extra pantry stocked with new ingredients. There are also additional challenges for the contestants to compete in.

Nailed It! Mexico

Title page for Netflix's "Nailed It! Mexico"

You thought The Great British Baking Show went crazy with spinoffs? Nailed It! has tons. If you’ve already binged the main show, you’ve got lots of content left.

Nailed It! Mexico is the Mexican version of the original. It came out in 2019, and currently has three seasons. Season four has yet to be announced.

Omar Chaparro, a Mexican actor, hosts the show with Anna Ruiz, a chef. It’s pretty similar to the original series, with celebrities appearing as guest judges.

Nailed It! Germany

Title page for Netflix's "Nailed It! Germany"

This one was a little less successful than its American and Mexican counterparts. It aired in 2020, and currently only has one season, with no indication of another.

The German spinoff is co-hosted by supermodel Angelina Kirsch and chef Bernd Siefert, with celebrity guest judges. Basically, it follows the tried and true Nailed It! formula.

It’s tailor-made for Nailed It! fans. If you’ve been making your way through all the Nailed It! shows, you won’t want to skip out on this one.

Nailed It! France

Title page for Netflix's "Nailed It! France"

This baking show on Netflix actually has professional pastry chefs make out-of-this-world cakes. Just kidding. It’s the same as the others, but just as fun!

Nailed It! France was released in 2019. It seems like Nailed It! was going crazy in those years, releasing international spinoffs left and right.

Artus, a French comedian, co-hosts with chef Noemie Honiat. The contestants compete for the chance to win 5,000 euro (same as the cash prize in Nailed It! Germany).

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve gone over the best baking shows on Netflix, but which is most popular? Well, there’s a couple of contenders: Nailed It! and The Great British Baking Show.

Nailed It! is particularly popular in the United States. The Great British Baking Show, on the other hand, does numbers over in the U.K.

Still, The Great British Baking Show wins. Nailed It! does well, but it’s got a long way to go before it beats out such an iconic show.

Does Amazon Prime have baking shows?

A TV showing media-centric apps (Prime Video, Vevo, Young Hollywood, abc news, etc)

Of course. Whether or not Prime’s selection holds a candle to the best baking shows on Netflix is up to you to decide.

There aren’t as many Amazon Prime original baking shows, but you can buy or rent lots through Amazon. If you like Food Network shows, check them out.

The American Baking Competition and America’s Test Kitchen are just a couple of examples. You can also get certain seasons of The Great British Baking Show.

Are there any baking shows on Hulu?

Close up of Hulu main page on the web browser.

It seems like Hulu has a lot of good baking shows. There’s some overlap with Amazon Prime, but they’ve got access to some others, too.

They’ve got The Great American Baking Show, and Cake Boss, which was originally on TLC. Cake Boss is pretty legendary, so that’s no small feat.

They’ve also got Cake Wars, which was originally on the Food Network. So, if the shows on Prime aren’t doing it for you, Hulu’s got you covered.

Do they waste food on “Bake Off”?

Food waste is a big concern for fans of cooking shows. You’d hope they wouldn’t be throwing them out, but you never really know.

The bakers actually get to eat their own creations, which is good. According to The Sun, they get first pickings (after the judges, of course).

If there’s any leftovers, it goes to the crew, who eat it with their lunch. The contestants also sample each other’s food when the cameras stop rolling.
