The mess-free hack to easily open a coconut

All you need is a screwdriver and a hammer to cleanly open a coconut.

Materials:

Instructions:

  1. In each of the 3 divets of the coconut, hammer in the Phillips screwdriver until you’ve punctured the coconut.
  2. Pour the coconut water into a bowl or glass.
  3. Hammer the side of the coconut until it cracks open.

 

The correct way to cut a pomegranate

Stop fighting trying to pick out the seeds of your pomegranate.

Materials:

Instructions:

  1. With a small knife, cut around the stem of the pomegranate.
  2. Peel away the top of the pomegranate.
  3. Looking at the pomegranate from above, cut down the sides using the white flesh on the inside as your guidelines.
  4. Don’t cut all the way to the bottom of the pomegranate where the sides come off. You want to leave them intact.
  5. Gently pull away each side of the pomegranate until it looks like a flower in bloom.
  6. Remove the white fleshy “pit” from the center.
  7. Flip the pomegranate over and tap the skin with the handle of the knife to knock all the seeds out.

 

How to help your fresh herbs last more than a day in the fridge

You wouldn’t leave fresh cut flowers without water, so why would you with your herbs?

Materials:

  • a glass (ex: mason jar)
  • water
  • parsley or any other fresh herb

Instructions:

  1. Fill a glass or mason jar with fresh water.
  2. Place your fresh herbs, stem down, in the water and set in the refrigerator.

 

Stop Veggies from Getting Soggy

The paper towel will absorb the moisture and keep your cucumber from getting soggy.

Materials:

  • paper towel

Instructions:

  1. Wrap your cucumber or other vegetables in a paper towel.
  2. Place the wrapped cucumber in the fridge.

 

Keep your avocado from browning

Try these two tricks to keep your avocado looking fresh!

Materials:

Instructions:

  1. Cut your avocado in half.
  2. Squeeze a lemon over one half.
  3. Spray some vegetable oil over the other half.
