Get Your Future Super Hero Excited for the new series “Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends”

Let’s swing into something exciting! “Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends” is the new, original series for preschoolers on Disney Junior. The show follows everyone’s favorite spider-like super hero, Peter Parker, as he works together with other Marvel characters to defeat evil forces. Throughout their journey, Spidey and his crew learn that teamwork is always the best way to save the day!

We’re especially excited to share this new program with our little ones because it’s the first full-length Marvel series for preschoolers. In order to gear up for this original series, we created new DIY games, challenges and crafts that you and your future superhero can enjoy together!

Your little learner will be having a blast as they test out their skills and abilities — and you’ll be amazed as they begin to discover their own super powers. With so many new Marvel Universe fans on our hands, the possibilities are endless! Get ready to shout “Go, webs go!” It’s almost time to watch “Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends!”

The series will be available in DisneyNOW on Friday, August 6, and will begin streaming on Disney+ shortly thereafter. Launch platforms will vary in international territories.

Spidey Senses Slime

This easy foolproof recipe yields stretchy, glossy, and glassy slime – perfect for playing every time.

Materials: 

• 1 cup clear glue
• 3 drops red food coloring
• 1 cup water
• 2 teaspoons borax powder
• 1 cup warm water
• Plastic spiders (optional)

Instructions:

1. For red glue, combine 1 cup of clear glue with red food coloring until desired color is reached.
2. Add 1 cup of water and stir to combine.
3. For activator, combine 2 teaspoons of borax with 1 cup of warm water and stir until dissolved. Pour your activator into the red glue mixture and stir. The solution will thicken into the perfect slime in seconds!
4. Add in plastic spiders or your mix-ins of choice and have fun!

Climbing Spidey Toys

Introduce your kids to kinetic movement with a fun toy and creative craft activity!

Materials:

• Popsicle sticks
• Straws
• Yarn
• Paint
• Glue

Instructions:

1. Glue together a row of popsicle sticks to create a spider body, add two popsicle stick fangs and 8 legs and you have a new spider friend!
2. Cut two short pieces of straw and glue these onto the spider too, stringing a long piece of yarn through each one. Flip the spider over to reveal its “face” and have fun decorating it to look like your favorite Spidey character!
3. Hang it up on the wall and show your little one how to raise and lower your spider by pulling the strings apart and bringing them back together.

Spidey Maze

Turn your hallway into a fun and engaging spider web maze!

Materials:

• Red yarn
• Tape

Instructions:

1. String a ball of yarn back and forth around the hallway, taping as you go, to create a tricky maze that your kids will have a blast navigating!

Spider Web Balls

We love popping our balloons with this fun and safe science experiment!

Materials:

• Balloon
• Yarn
• White glue
• Orange peel

Instructions: 

1. Blow up a balloon to your desired spider web ball size.
2. Dip yarn into white glue and wipe off the excess.
3. Wrap the yarn around the balloon until your desired level of layering is achieved.
4. Allow to dry. Once dry, gently separate any yarn that is stuck to the balloon.
5. Now, pop the balloon! Squeeze an orange peel next to the balloon. The oils in the peel dissolve the balloon’s rubber “magically” popping it!
6. Pull out the popped balloon from the spider web ball and it’s ready to display! Add cut outs of your favorite Spidey characters to complete the look!

Spider Web Tie Dye

Create one-of-a-kind tie dye T-shirts in your favorite Spidey colors! 

Materials:

• White T-shirt
• Washable gel glue
• Gloves
• Bottles of tie dye in the colors of your choice
• Rubber bands

Instructions:

1. Lie your white t-shirt flat. Taking a tube of washable gel glue, and draw a spider web pattern on the T-shirt. (This is a great chance to get creative with patterns and designs!). Let dry completely – this may take up to 24 hours.
2. Once dry, scrunch the T-shirt up and hold those scrunches in place with a large rubber band.
3. Put on some gloves and apply dye in your favorite Spidey colors to the shirt. Get creative with colors and placement!
4. Let the dye set for several hours, then rinse. Make sure to wash all the glue out to reveal your spider web design. Enjoy your one of a kind shirt!

Spidey Slinging Game

Turn simple summertime items into a fun and competitive game!

Materials:

• Hula hoop
• Tape
• Pool noodle
• Balloons
• Pom-poms

Instructions:

1. For your target, tape a spider web shape on your hula hoop and hang it up sticky side out.
2. Create your pom-pom shooter by tying off the end of a balloon and cutting off its top. Stretch the opening of the balloon over the end of a short slice of pool noodle and tape the two together.
3. Place a pom-pom into the center of the noodle, pull back the knot of the balloon, and release to launch your pom-pom! Give each competitor their own color of pom-poms and let them fly! The person to stick a pom-pom closest to the center of the web wins!

Web Walking Game

Help your little ones practice their problem solving skills as they balance and navigate the web pathways to all the toys!

Materials:

• Blue masking tape
• Black marker
• Plastic spiders or toys of choice

Instructions:

1. Create a large spider web shape with blue masking tape on a large area of floor. Label the apex of the web “START HERE” using a black marker.
2. Add toys (like plastic spiders) to the open areas between the webbing.
3. Challenge your little one to begin at the starting point and walk like a tightrope along the tape webbing to pick up all the toys!

Spidey String Game

Transform your laundry basket into a fun and challenging game!

Materials:

• Laundry basket
• Yarn
• Spidey tokens
• Tongs

Instructions: 

1. Weave yarn in and out of the laundry basket’s holes to create a complicated network of “spider webs.”
2. Place some Spidey tokens inside the basket and you’re ready to play!
3. Using tongs, your kids will have a great time avoiding the webs as they rescue their toys and develop their fine motor skills.

DIY Webquarters

DIY your own Spidey nest! Some simple macramé can turn a hula hoop into a DIY spider web canopy.

Materials: 

• Hula hoop
• Macramé yarn
• Table cloth
• Double-sided tape
• Pillows

Instructions:

1. Loop 8 strings around the hoop and tie each string to the one beside it. Repeat three times and then gather the remaining string into a knot at the center.
2. Attach a tablecloth to the hula hoop and it’s ready to be hung up! Fill your new nest with comfy pillows and fun games for the perfect spot to play and relax in style!

STEM Web Structures

Materials:

• 38 one-inch long pieces of PVC pipe
• 25 forty-five degree elbows
• 10 tee sockets
• White yarn

Instructions:

1. Connect six pieces of pipe together using the 45 degree elbows so that it creates six sides of an octagon. Repeat five times.
2. Place tee sockets on the open ends of each octagon. Connect the octagons together with more one-inch pieces of pipe. String yarn across the joints of the structure and create a spider web shape at the end.
3. You’ve just created a lightweight yet durable Spidey structure that your kids will have a blast in!
