How to make eggshell planters
Materials:
Instructions:
- Gently, but firmly, tap the top of the egg with the back of a spoon until a crack forms.
- Peel back the top of the eggshell, leaving a big enough hole for the contents to pour out.
- Over a bowl, pour out the egg whites and yolk until you’re left with an empty eggshell.
- Spoon in some soil.
Strawberries

Instructions:
- Use a pair of tweezers to pick out the seeds from the strawberry.
- Transfer the seeds to an eggshell filled with soil.
- Keep the soil damp while the seeds take root.
Pineapples
Materials:
Instructions:
- Twist the stem of the pineapple off.
- Peel off a few of the outside leaves near the base of the stem until enough is exposed.
- Stick in four toothpicks around the stem.
- Rest the toothpicks and around the edge of a mason jar so the base of the stem is submerged in the water.
- Transfer to soil in 6-8 weeks.
Mushrooms
Materials:
Instructions:
- Add old coffee grounds to a mason jar.
- Remove the cap of the mushroom so you’re left with just the stem.
- Press the mushroom stem into the coffee grounds.
- Wrap a coffee filter over the top of the mason jar. Secure it with a rubber band.
- Poke a few holes in the coffee filter with a toothpick.
- Keep in a damp and shaded location for 3 weeks.
Raspberries
Materials:
Instructions:
- Add some raspberries to a mesh strainer positioned over a bowl.
- Press the raspberries into the strainer with a spoon to help separate the seeds.
- Pour water over the mashed berries to help sift out the seeds from the flesh.
- Let the seeds dry.
- Add a few pinches of soil to an eggshell.
- Top off with some of your raspberry seeds.
- Keep the eggshell planter in a sunny area.
Bean Sprouts
Materials:
Instructions:
- Add a handful of mung beans to a mason jar.
- Pour in water.
- Cover the opening on the mason jar with cheesecloth and secure with a rubber band.
- Leave the beans in the water for 2 days.
Avocados
Materials:
Instructions:
- Slice open an avocado and remove the pit.
- Stick in 4 toothpicks around the pit.
- Rest the toothpicks on the edge of a mason jar until the base of the pit is submerged in the water.
- Transfer the pit to soil in 6-8 weeks.
Cherries
Materials:

- straw
- cherries
- eggshell
- soil
Instructions:
- Remove the pits of the cherries using a straw. Press the straw through the top of the cherry until the pit pops out.
- Let the pits dry out and transfer to an eggshell filled with soil.
- Keep the eggshell planter in a sunny area.
Bell Peppers
Materials:

- bell pepper
- bowl
- eggshell
- soil
Instructions:
- Cut the bell pepper and pull out the stem of seeds.
- Scrape the seeds into a bowl.
- Transfer a few seeds to an eggshell filled with soil.
- Transfer to a larger plot of soil in 8-10 weeks.
Lemons
Materials:

- soil
Instructions:
- Cut open a lemon. Remove the seeds.
- Transfer one seed to an eggshell filled with soil.
- Press the seed down into the soil and cover it.
- Transfer to a larger plot of soil in 2 weeks.
