We all do that major overhaul of our homes during the “Spring cleaning” period. We declutter and get rid of all of our junk. But as the months go on we slowly start to collect it all back. That once organized utensil drawer won’t close because you suddenly own five spatulas now and have nowhere to store your knives (because let’s be real, knife blocks are expensive). And with the Winter months and colder days ahead, that means we’re spending almost all of our time inside our homes. Our disorganized closets and kitchen drawers are mocking us! There’s no better feeling than clearing the clutter from the counters and not being afraid to open that front hall closet door (in fear of what might fall the second you open that door).

!!"

If you’ve been bitten by the organizing bug, set aside a day on the weekend and run out to Bed Bath & Beyond for some tension rods, baskets, and small shelves. If you’re unsure of where to start with your organizing journey, start at Bed Bath & Beyond. Even if you’ve just moved houses and are in need of new bedroom and kitchen supplies, you can find anything there that might be on your wish list.

We had a blast working with Bed Bath & Beyond on these clever life hacks, so be sure to check them out below for some organization inspo!

We all have that one black hole of a closet

Materials:

  • tension rods
  • baskets

Instructions:

  1. Set up three tension rods at the bottom of the closet. Set the top rod further back and stagger the remaining two.
  2. You can rest baskets on the top bar and use the bottom two bars to hold heels or other shoes you have.

A sideways bookshelf makes for the perfect window bench

Materials:

  • tall bookshelf
  • frame hooks
  • hot glue gun
  • seat cushions (with ties)

Instructions:

  1. Flip the bookshelf on its side.
  2. With a hot glue gun, glue several frame hooks to the backboard of the bookshelf. You’ll be using two frame hooks per seat cushion. Allow the glue to firmly set before continuing.
  3. Place several seat cushions on the side of the bookshelf. Thread the ties through each frame hook to secure the cushions to the bench.
  4. Feel free to add extra pillows and other knick-knacks to the shelves of the bench.

Materials:

  • printed out labels with a font of your choice
  • clear shipping tape
  • X-Acto knife
  • key card (credit card, ID, etc.)
  • bowl with warm water

Instructions:

  1. Place clear shipping tape over your typed out labels.
  2. Use a keycard to smooth out any bumps and bubbles in the tape so the entire label sticks to the tape.
  3. Use an X-Acto knife to cut out each label.
  4. Place the labels in a bowl of warm water. Let the paper absorb the water and gently rub away at the paper so the font has transferred over to the tape.
  5. Transfer the tape label to any container.
