Rise And Shine With These 5 Clever Bedroom Hacks

Honestly, there is nothing more satisfying than watching videos of mattresses reinflating after their takes out of the box. It’s truly mind-boggling to think that an entire Queen size mattress can fit inside a box you can put in the back seat of your car – WHAT? Also, having the option to skip the awkward salesperson encounters at the mattress store and instead of being able to buy online is definitely an added bonus. Shopping for a tulo mattress still gives you the best of both worlds, so sure, go jump on those in-store mattresses while the salesperson isn’t looking.

Having a disorganized bedroom is the root of all adult anxiety. It also just makes you feel like you don’t have your life together when you can’t find a single matching sock in your underwear drawer. Or, like when the drawer is too full and you realize all of your cute underwear fell into the back of the dresser like 2 months ago. Not fun.

So instead of going out to buy new socks or underwear to replace the mysteriously missing pairs, try out a drawer organizer instead. There’s no need to go out and buy the materials for it. Just recycle your tulo pillow box and with a few quick snips, you’ve got the perfect organizer! It also works perfectly for under bed storage. Yes, we are encouraging you to hide stuff under your bed! Try cutting off the bottom of your mattress box, gluing on a few wheels and a handle, pop that organizer in, and you’re good to go.

We had so much fun working with tulo to bring you these amazing hacks! Below you can check out each hack to help bring some organization in your bedroom.

Getting that darn fitted sheet to stay

Materials:

  • fitted sheet
  • suspenders

Instructions:

  1. Put the fitted sheet on your mattress and flip it so the bottom of the mattress is facing up.
  2. Clip the suspenders on to two of the corners of the fitted sheet. Pull the last strap across the mattress to the other end of the fitted sheet and clip it in the middle.
  3. Flip the mattress back over and give one of the corners of the sheet a little tug to test if the suspenders will hold.

Breakfast in Bed Tray

Materials:

  • empty photo frame
  • industrial glue
  • wire shelf
  • two handles
  • burlap bag
  • staple gun

Instructions:

  1. Flip over the photo frame and draw two lines of industrial glue down the sides. Quick tip: Lay the wire shelf down on the photo frame and mark where it ends so you know how much glue to put down.
  2. Carefully place the top of the wire shelf on the glue and make sure the shelf is not crooked on the frame. Set it aside until the glue is dried.
  3. Flip the tray over and add 2 dots of industrial glue to your two handles. Stick them down on the front of the photo frame on each side.
  4. Take a little burlap bag and staple gun it to the side of the photo frame. Stash any silverware, napkins, or any other goodies in the pouch!
  5. Use an expo marker to write any cute messages on the glass of the photo frame.

Materials:

  • tulo pillow box
  • X-Acto knife
  • scissors

Instructions:

  1. Use an X-Acto knife to cut out the panels of your Tulo pillow box.
  2. Cut each of them in half vertically. You should have 8 panels in total.
  3. Along the long side of each panel, cut out 3 slots. Each slot should be less than ¼inch in width. Repeat this step with each panel.
  4. Line up the slots on each panel and slide them together so you’re left with a 3×3 lattice square.
  5. Add this to a sock or underwear drawer to help keep everything organized!

Materials:

  • box cutter
  • tulo mattress box
  • contact paper
  • small wheels
  • industrial glue
  • handle
  • lattice box drawer organizer (see instructions above)

Instructions:

  1. Use a box cutter to cut off the bottom of the Tulo mattress box. Ahead of time, measure out how much under bed space you have so you know how deep to make the box.
  2. Wrap the box in contact paper. Choose any color or design you’d like!
  3. Squeeze some industrial glue onto each wheel and secure them to the bottom of the box. Let the glue dry before continuing.
  4. When the glue is dry flip the box on its side. Glue a handle onto the front side panel.
  5. Slide the lattice box drawer organizer. Use it to store old sweaters, shirts, or any other knick-knacks!

DIY Headboard

Materials:

  • tulo mattress box
  • yard stick
  • 48″ ruler
  • sharpie
  • a fabric of your choice
  • foam
  • batting
  • big needle and thread
  • buttons of your choice (to match the fabric)
  • staple gun

Instructions:

  1. Deconstruct your Tulo mattress box so it is lying completely flat. Lay it out over a large enough table.
  2. Along the 60″ side of the box, mark out 10″ spaces. On the 30″ side, also mark out 10″ spaces.
  3. Use the longer ruler to draw lines connecting the marks you made on each side. You should have a repeating diamond pattern over your box.
  4. Flip the box over and lay the foam, batting, and fabric over it.
  5. This is where the help of the table comes into play. Crawl under the table, slide some of the box over to the edge so you can see your diamond pattern on the bottom. Take a big needle with thread that will blend in with your choice of fabric and pierce the needle through all of the points of the diamonds. Loop a button through your needle and sew it on for each point.
  6. Once all of the buttons have been sewn on, flip the box back over and pull the fabric and batting tight along the edges of the box. Secure it all down with a staple gun. Once it is all secure cut off any excess fabric and batting.
