After being rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, July 24th, singer Demi Lovato is now reportedly “awake and with her family,” according to one of her representatives. Multiple sources learned on Tuesday that Los Angeles police responded to a possible overdose call in the Hollywood Hills. Although police would not release the name of the victim, TMZ later received confirmation that the person in question was Lovato.

Later that same day, Lovato’s representative released a statement to TMZ and other outlets about her recovery:

“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

Because news travels so fast over multiple platforms as soon as it breaks, information can easily be misconstrued and details that aren’t necessarily true can be added along the way. There has been no official statement made about what exactly happened to Lovato. Therefore, it’s important for us to wait until the truth is revealed before we reach conclusions.

For years, Lovato has been open and honest about her fight for sobriety. After six years of being clean from alcohol and drugs, she released a song titled “Sober” in June 2018, in which she sings about relapsing.

On Sunday, July 22nd, Lovato performed at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles and was reportedly getting ready to travel to Atlantic City to perform at another upcoming show.

Until official word is released about what happened yesterday, all we can do is send Lovato, her friends, and her family love and support.
