Growing up and getting older definitely doesn’t mean you have to give up on Halloween. In fact, here at Blossom, we think it’s the exact opposite! It’s time to hone in your mystical powers and celebrate your love for all things petrifying! Let yourself enjoy the one night out of the year where everyone gets to be whoever they want to be. Whether you plan on summoning the dead at a spooky séance or doing the monster mash all night long, Spirit Halloween has everything you need to host the best Halloween bash!

This year, we wanted to amp up our décor. We could spend hours browsing everything at our local Spirit store, which is fantastic because Spirit opens over 1,400 stores across the United States and Canada every year for the Halloween season. Since we knew exactly what we needed, we opted to shop at the convenient online store. Everything in our order, from the Spirit Witches Cauldron to the Bag of Bones, were delivered right to our door!

Take your Halloween party up a notch, by trying some of our ghastly and gruesome Halloween DIY projects. Your guests are going to get a kick out of your haunting tablescape paired with creepy canapés. Summon anything you need to get ready for Halloween by shopping at your local Spirit!

Witch’s Bubbling Cauldron

Materials: 

  • Spirit cauldron
  • Glue
  • Pack of oatmeal
  • Popsicle stick
  • Paint
  • Drink of choice
  • Dry ice

Instructions:

  1. Stir together equal parts oatmeal and glue until thick.
  2. Use a popsicle stick to apply mixture around the edge of cauldron and let dry.
  3. Alternate painting over oatmeal mixture with black and brown patches and let dry.
  4. Water down green paint and add to places with oatmeal, allowing to drip down and then dry.
  5. Pour your drink of choice into the punch bowl.
  6. For extra “spooky” effect, add dry ice to the bowl!

Skull Crystal Ball Centerpiece

Materials:

  • Fishbowl
  • Alcohol ink
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Spirit skull
  • String lights
  • Small cake pan
  • Black spray paint

Instructions:

  1. Squeeze alcohol inks in teal and gold down the inside of the fish bowl. Rotate bowl until the color spreads around the whole bowl and let dry.
  2. Spray paint a cake pan black.
  3. Flip cake pan upside down and place skull on top in the center.
  4. Place bowl upside down onto the cake pan, covering the skull.
  5. Add string lights for more sparkle!

Spider Web Cupcakes

Materials:

  • Chocolate cupcakes
  • Jumbo marshmallows
  • Bowl
  • Spirit plastic spiders

Instructions:

  1. Take 10 marshmallows and place them in a microwave safe bowl and heat for 15 seconds.
  2. Stir marshmallows until they become a sticky mixture.
  3. Dip fingers into mixture, bring fingers together and then pull apart to create webbing effect and spread on top of cupcake.
  4. Top with plastic spider on cupcake to finish!

Skele-tongs

Materials:

  • Plastic skeleton hands from Spirit Bag of Bones
  • Plastic tongs
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions: 

  1. Hot glue the inward side of skeleton hands.
  2. Place a skeleton hand on each sides of the tongs so that the hands face each other.
  3. Ready to use!

Spooky Pool Noodle Candles

Materials:

  • Pool noodles
  • Low temp hot glue gun
  • Black paint spray can
  • Spirit black tealights
  • Knife

Instructions: 

  1. Cut pool noodles into different sizes (short and tall).
  2. At the top of each pool noodle, a centimeter inward, begin to cut a circle an inch deep.
  3. Glue the noodles together with heights staggered (taller ones in the back, shorter in the front).
  4. Make staggered streaks of glue from the top of each noodle, ending ⅓ of the way down the noodle.
  5. Spray the entire structure with spray paint.
  6. Place tea light candles at the top of each noodle.
  7. Decorate with flowers or other spooky items as desired!

Potion Pill Bottles

Materials:

  • Pill bottle
  • Hot glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Black spray paint
  • Dark yellow acrylic paint
  • Light gray acrylic paint
  • Cotton balls
  • Bag of moss (Optional)
  • Light bulb (Optional)
  • Spirit witch books

Instructions:

  1. Hot glue desired image or words onto glue bottle. Let it dry.
  2. Spray paint bottle black.
  3. Dip cotton ball lightly into dark yellow and light gray acrylic paint.
  4. Dab onto a pill bottle. Alternating directions and constantly turning cotton ball to spread paint across the bottle. Repeat until desired effect is achieved.
  5. Add optional items to the top of the pill bottle to create a spookier effect.
  6. Place multiple bottles together with Spirit witch inspired books to create a potion corner!

Skeleton Hand Place Card Holders

Materials:

  • Skeleton hands from Spirit bag of bones
  • Black spray paint
  • Gold spray paint
  • Terra cotta pot
  • Bag of faux moss
  • Name cards

Instructions:

  1. Spray paint skeleton hand with black paint. Let dry.
  2. Then spray the skeleton hand with gold paint. Let dry.
  3. Place moss in a terracotta pot.
  4. Place the skeleton hand into the moss.
  5. Add a name card to the skeleton hand and place each pot in front of a dinner plate.

Witch’s Pretzel Broomstick

Materials:

  • Shredded phyllo dough (Kaitaifi)
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Kitchen scissors
  • Baking pan

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Pick up part of shredded phyllo dough and cut a few inches for broom.
  3. Stick the pretzel stick in the center of phyllo dough.
  4. Grab a few strands of dough and wrap around hanging strands and the pretzel stick.
  5. Hold for a bit to melt the strands into the broom.
  6. Place on baking sheet and place in oven for 15 mins.
  7. Let cool and then serve pretzel broomsticks with a dip of your choice in a Spirit bowl!

Bat Dinner Napkin

Materials:

  • Square dinner napkin

Instructions: 

  1. Place the napkin in diamond formation.
  2. Pull the top corner down to the bottom half of the napkin.
  3. Then pull bottom corners partially up over the fold line.
  4. Place your finger on the center bottom of the napkin.
  5. Pull the left corner up, then pull the right corner up.
  6. Fold down flap in center.
  7. Push together to create a bat!
  8. Place on plate for each dinner guest, and set the table with Spirit cups and candle holders.

Witch Hat Luminary

Materials: 

  • Glow stick
  • String
  • Hand sewing needle
  • Spirit witch’s hat

Instructions:

  1. Thread hand sewing needle and knot. Then loop around the top of the glow stick and knot.
  2. Pull the needle through the inside of the witch’s hat and continue pulling until out through the top.
  3. Create a loop at end of thread for hanging
  4. Hang with multiple hats for an eerie effect!

Witch’s Broom Cake Stand

Materials:

  • Terra cotta pot
  • Spirit witch’s broom
  • 3 round pieces of cardboard (each a different size)
  • Hot glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Pipe cleaner

Instructions:

  1. Place the end of the broomstick into a terracotta pot.
  2. Cut hole into the center of the cardboard, then slide down the broomstick.
  3. Hot glue around bottom of cardboard and wrap pipe cleaner around. Then push pipe cleaner to cardboard. Let dry. Repeat to the top side of cardboard.
  4. Repeat to other pieces of cardboards.
