Zodiac signs are amazing. Our signs can tell us a lot about ourselves and our friends, too. Sure, there are tons of people who don’t really “believe in all that stuff,” (My mom is one of those people, but she’s a Virgo, so I guess that’s expected.)

!!"

Like me, however, there are a handful of people who take what their horoscope reads to heart.

Did you know the Myers-Briggs is based on astrology?

If you’re still skeptical, can you answer this question: Do you believe in the Myers-Briggs personality test? If so, you should know that it’s based on the work of the well-known psychologist Carl Gustav Jung who was also a serious astrology enthusiast. Astrology was the foundation for his “personality types.” What’s more? Astrology is considered to be the root of many psychological practices. That’s why speaking with a talk-therapist feels like you’re working with an astrologer.

“Astrology is of particular interest to the psychologist since it contains a sort of psychological experience which we call projected–this means that we find the psychological facts as it were in the constellations,” Jung wrote in a letter in 1947. “This originally gave rise to the idea that these factors derive from the stars, whereas they are merely in a relation of synchronicity with them. I admit that this is a very curious fact which throws a peculiar light on the structure of the human mind.”

Paying attention to your astrological sign could help you in the long run.

Even if you’re a non-believer, the zodiac can still be applied to multiple areas of our lives–whether you’re using it to improve yourself or better understand others around you. From friendships to romantic relationships to our chosen career path to how we can better excel school, our astrological signs can be quite telling.

Believe it or not, your zodiac traits could help you become a better student. Scroll down to read how you should prepare for the big school year ahead, according to your zodiac sign.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/KSl6bfYQoke3K/giphy.gif”]

Get some rest–you’re going to need it.

You’re a leader, not a follower. Which means you’re determined to show everyone up on your first day back to class. The only problem? You’ve got a bad habit of staying up late and over-thinking exactly how you’re going to do it. As school approaches, try to get to bed at a decent time. This way, you’ll actually have the energy you need to turn your showstopping plans into reality.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/l3q2t2KAyvxy9xBe0/giphy.gif”]

Go shopping…now!

You’re all about the finer things in life, but unlike an Aries, you’re not into the game as much as you are the actual reward. Not only do you dislike change, but you’re stubborn (I mean, you are a bull, after all), and can easily get stuck in your ways. Word of advice? Ditch the procrastination and go ahead and get your school shopping done now so you’ll be feeling fresh and ready for your first day back.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/WS6BW3z670A7K2lm4S/giphy.gif”]

Throw a party.

You’re just so fun to be around–literally everyone loves you. (Which is why your summer was amazing!) You are the proverbial life of the party, so why not throw an end of the summer get together for you and all of your friends? It’d be a great way to start the beginning of a new school year.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/hrk8ehR4lCZ27FtjPA/giphy.gif”]

Practice self-care.

You’re a nurturer, so it’s only natural for you to take care of everyone except yourself. Turn the phone off, get away from the computer, and just rest–your mind, your body, and your soul. Use this time to reflect on what you’ve done this summer. Give yourself time to analyze those thoughts in an intellectual (read: not emotional) way. By the time the first day of school rolls around, you’ll be so calm you even a first-day pop quiz wouldn’t faze you.

Leo (July 23 – Aug 22)

[fm_giphy url=”http://giphygifs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/EFDXMoy63ZQxG/giphy.gif”]

Get your look together ahead of time.

You’re a lion, which means you live for attention. You are the Queen (or King) of the animal kingdom and your confidence, pizzaz, and love for life is just a part of who you are. (And you’re not afraid to show it!) So before you set foot on the school bus, make sure you’ve carefully planned your back-to-school outfit. There is only one first day of school per year, so make it count!

Virgo (Aug 23 – Sept 22)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/5YIYp1LVJeGMU/giphy.gif”]

Organize your things.

You’re a perfectionist. And while you actually enjoy going back to school, doing so with a messy desk, bedroom, or bookbag isn’t your style. (In fact, if even one thing is in dismay your mind might high gear it into overdrive. Spend one day organizing everything in your home, your future self (and your homework) will thank you for it.

Libra (Sept 23 – Oct 22)

[fm_giphy url=”http://giphygifs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/bRBufdofrX9e0/giphy.gif”]

Practice silence.

You’re a networker, so going back to school isn’t that big of a deal for you. While you are there to learn, you’re more interested in making new connections. But sometimes (as you may have learned in the past), your biggest strength can get you in a bit of trouble. In an effort to cut down on detention slips, practice silence.

Scorpio (Oct 21 – Nov 21)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/xUySTqBqQD1DAzmpCE/giphy.gif”]

Lighten up.

You’re a hard worker and no one is going to fault you for that. But, this year, slow down and take it easy on yourself. There isn’t a prize for winning the first day, the second day, or even the third day of school. Grab your planner, make a schedule, and then relax. Maybe take up a sport or something. Colleges love extracurriculars and competition is your thing.

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/LwzBicG26gz0pGI0ro/giphy.gif”]

Read something, for fun.

You’re diligent, determined, and deadset on becoming the best student you can be–which means your summer reading list was finished ages ago. Instead of reading because you have to, get back into reading because you want to. This way, you’ll be revved up for the new semester and ready to soak in every word your professor says.

Aquarius (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/5nkQmGl85Uaa5rbMh1/giphy.gif”]

Take an end of the summer solo trip.

You’re not fond of the idea of being stuck in a box, and being in a classroom is basically the same thing. Before school officially starts, take off. Go somewhere and live life your way. Don’t have enough money to go backpacking through Europe? (I mean, who does?) Use your creativity to come up with an affordable alternative.

Pisces (Feb 19 March 20)

[fm_giphy url=”https://media.giphy.com/media/ZEGecjpI6ouYw/giphy.gif”]

Pay attention.

You’re a dreamer and that’s great. Dreaming leads to creativity which leads to success. Daydreaming in class, however, can lead to failure. Remember to pay attention whenever the prof is speaking. Falling behind is easier than you think, so you might want to go in with a game-plan. Your grades will thank you for it.

What do you think–are you ready for the first day of school?
