Ed Sheeran is a married man!

!!"

After staying mum about his martial status since reportedly tying the knot in a super private ceremony in December at their home in Suffolk, England, Ed has finally confirmed that Cherry Seaborn is, in fact, his wife.

In addition to sharing this exciting personal news, Ed Sheeran dropped his new album, No.6 Collaborations Project, which refers to Cherry as his wife.

In the lyrics on the track “Remember the Name,” featuring Eminem and 50 Cent, the British singer’s verse says, “Watch how the lyrics in the songs might get twisted / My wife wears red, but looks better without the lipstick.”

In a candid video interview with iHeart Radio’s Charlamagne The God, posted to his YouTube channel, Ed explained the lyric:

“It was actually before me and Cherry got married, and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out,” he says. “Someone’s gonna hear that and be like, ‘Oh, they’re married!’ I didn’t know how that would be construed, but obviously it’s already come out.”

Sheeran first announced his engagement to childhood-friend Cherry, whom he’s known since he was 11, last January.

“I went to Taylor’s 4th of July party. I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history,” Sheeran told People back in 2018.

“Got myself a fiancé just before new year,” Ed captioned a sweet Instagram shot. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”

While they have known each other for decades, the pair’s relationship didn’t become romantic until the summer of 2015, when they reconnected and had their official first date at one of Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July parties.

The intimate wedding ceremony, rumored to have had only 40 people in attendance, is something Ed has always talked about.

“I don’t like large groups of people at the best of times so…I never wanted a wedding that was lots of people,” Ed told ET last August.

If Ed’s confessional lyrics over the years have shown us anything, he is a total romantic and his vows were probably more beautiful than any song of his we’ve heard.

And while we may never know if Cherry wore a gown or if Ed teared up during the ceremony, we love that he skipped out on inviting celebrity guests and studio executives to instead focus on his bride.

Don’t worry, according to The Sun (which accurately reported the couple’s marriage in December) a huge festival-style wedding party might be to come at the end of summer 2019.

And if you’re anything like us, we’re crossing our fingers his best friend, Taylor Swift, will be in attendance this time.

Now that we have the private lovebirds on our mind, let’s take a look back on some of the rare pictures Ed has publicly shared:

The time he shared pictures of them spending their 4th Fourth of the July together.
