We headed over to our favorite local ShopRite to grab all the essentials for an extra special Mother’s Day. Our new hacks, such as simple salami roses on a charcuterie board or champagne ice cubes in a mimosa, truly take an everyday meal from ordinary to extraordinary!

Salami Rose

Materials: 

  • Sliced salami
  • Small glass (like a champagne flute)

 

Directions: 

  1. Using any small glass (a champagne flute is the perfect size), fold slices of salami around the rim, staggering them so that they overlap slightly.
  2. Once you have added enough salami so that the center is tight and secure, flip your glass onto a platter to reveal your perfect salami rose!

 

Potato Peeler Cheese Slices

Materials:

  • White cheddar (and other hard cheeses)
  • Potato peeler

 

Directions:

  1. Use a potato peeler to create thin, even slices from the block of your favorite cheese (works especially well with firm cheeses like white cheddar).

 

Easy Crepes

Materials:

  • Crepe batter, 1 cup of Bowl & Basket flour, 2 eggs, ½ cup of milk, ½ cup of water, 2 tablespoons of butter (melted)
  • Toppings, Bowl & Basket strawberry yogurt, chocolate hazelnut spread, bananas (sliced), strawberries (sliced)
  • Non-stick skillet

 

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together Bowl & Basket flour and eggs.
  2. Once combined, stir in milk and water.
  3. Add in melted butter and mix until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into a wide, low bowl.
  5. Dip the bottom of a warm, clean pan into the batter, flip the pan onto your stovetop, and cook until the edges begin to brown.
  6. Flip the cooked crepe onto a plate and serve with chocolate hazelnut spread, fresh fruit, and Bowl & Basket strawberry yogurt.

 

Savory Deli Flowers

  • Jalapeno peppers
  • Ham
  • Pairing knife

 

Directions:

  1. Save the ends of your jalapeno peppers after you’ve cleared the insides.
  2. Fold a piece of ham into the jalapeno for easy savory deli flowers.

 

Champagne Ice Cube for Mimosas

Materials:

  • Raspberries
  • Edible flowers
  • Champagne
  • Orange juice
  • Bowl & Basket sparkling water mandarin orange flavor
  • Ice tray

 

Directions:

  1. Place raspberries and edible flowers into an ice tray.
  2. Fill with champagne.
  3. Allow to freeze.
  4. Build your mimosa by placing in your specialty ice cubes, pour in your orange juice, and add a spritz of the Bowl & Basket sparkling water mandarin orange flavor. 

 

Easy Plastic Bag Omelets

Materials: 

  • Eggs
  • Diced ham
  • Diced green bell pepper
  • Diced tomato
  • Shredded cheese

 

Directions:

  1. In a resealable plastic freezer bag, add 3 whisked eggs.
  2. Add your toppings — diced ham, diced green bell pepper, diced tomato, and shredded cheese.
  3. Seal the bag, massage the contents until mixed, and pop the bag into boiling water.
  4. Boil your omelets for 5 minutes (or until cooked through), plate them.

 

Crustless Tea Sandwiches

Materials:

  • Bowl & Basket white sandwich enriched sliced bread
  • Egg salad
  • Regular sized glass

 

Directions:

  1. Add a dollop of egg salad to the center of a slice of Bowl & Basket white sandwich bread.
  2. Add another slice on top and press a glass over the sandwich to cut the crusts off and create a perfectly round sandwich pocket.
  3. Arrange on a serving platter and enjoy.

 

Easy Poached Eggs

Materials:

  • Eggs
  • Silicone cupcake liners

 

Directions:

  1. Crack an egg into a silicone cupcake liner.
  2. Gently lower the cupcake liner into a pot of boiling water.
  3. Place cover over the pot and allow it to boil for over 5 minutes.
  4. Check to see if the eggs look cooked, then carefully remove.
  5. Place on your avocado toast or any desired breakfast plate and enjoy.

 

Cinnamon Roll Waffles

Materials:

  • Raw cinnamon roll
  • Bowl & Basket sugar
  • Bowl & Basket baking chocolate chips
  • Waffle iron

 

Directions:

  1. Cook your cinnamon rolls in your waffle maker to get it crispy and nicely shaped.
  2. While you wait, place your sugar into a blender and blend in order to make powdered sugar.
  3. Once your cinnamon rolls are cooked, add on your powdered sugar, baking chocolate chips, and enjoy! 

 

Microwaved French Toast in a Cup

Materials:

  • Butter
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • Egg (beaten)
  • ½ teaspoon of sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Bread
  • Wholesome Pantry organic maple syrup
  • Wholesome Pantry organic coconut flakes
  • Microwave safe mug

 

Directions:

  1. Find your favorite microwaveable-safe mug and add a slab of butter (it’s best to melt it first, then place into your cup).
  2. Add in milk, egg, sugar, cinnamon, and your bread – mix them all together.
  3. Microwave for 2 minutes, then add syrup and coconut flakes for a finishing touch.
