Going through a breakup is an extremely rough albeit transformative time in everyone’s lives. And luckily for us, the queen of gracefully moving on, Ariana Grande has released a fragrant accompaniment to her song, “Thank U, Next.”
While we all love trying to heal a broken heart by joining a gym, changing our hair color, or even going out on dates, Ari has taught us that there are in fact lessons to be learned from every relationship— whether it’s love, patience, or pain. “Thank U, Next” took the world by storm and had everyone looking at their exes with a little less animosity, but now Ariana has given us the chance to smell like forgiveness, maturity, and transcendence.
Released in Ulta stores on August 18, 2019, Ariana’s Thank U, Next Eau de Parfum is the scent of the summer.
Hot Girl Summer meet “Thank U, Next.” Each bottle is candy pink, and formed in the shape of a broken heart.
Depending on how devastating your heartbreak is you can buy a bottle in small, medium, or Grande.
Starting at $42.00 for the 1 oz bottle, the perfume also comes in 1.7 oz, and in the largest 3.4 oz size, which retails for $62.00.
But what does a breakup smell like?
Turns out it isn’t salty tears, tubs of ice cream, unwashed hair, or Cheeto crumbs. “I wanted to make a fragrance that smells related to my first fragrance, Ari, but more summery, so I revisited Ari’s fruity pear and raspberry notes and changed it up by adding some coconut,” Ariana explained.
And Ulta’s description of the perfume is enough to make you feel empowered.
“Optimistically outspoken. Playful yet cool,” Ulta writes on their website, the fragrance promises to be a “divine velvety musk” with the “classic Ari sass.” If there’s anything we could use more of, it’s that characteristic attitude sprayed all over our bodies.
That’s exactly how Ariana is hoping to inspire you.
“I was inspired to design a bottle that represented the message of my song “thank u, next,” the singer explained in a press release via Harper’s Bazaar. “The emergence of the perfume from the broken heart represents moving forward from a challenging chapter.”
Her mom is on board with the message and the perfume.
In an Instagram post, Ariana posted an adorable snap with her mom, Joan Grande, writing: “go grab yours before joan grande literally buys all of them [sic].”
She turned to perfume expert, Jerome Epinette to make her dreams a reality.
Jerome Epinette, the mastermind behind fragrance brands like Byredo and Atelier Cologne layered floral scents and musk notes for a “more transparent, but still addictive” effect.
This signals Ari’s continued success with fragrances.
